Leaving for the East Coast- Pre Ramadhan Family Gathering

Assalamualaikum dear Brothers & Sisters,

I will be leaving for the East Coast this evening to attend a Pre Ramadhan Family Gathering where we will congregate and join in a 'Majlis Tahlil' @ 'Offering of prayers for our family members who have departed to Allah's Mercy and then have a Thanksgiving Feast with our beloved family members and the whole clan.

I will not be online till I return home here to KL on Sunday, so I would like to inform my readers of my not being able to attend to any comments left here in my blog pending our trip back home to Kuantan, Pahang Darul Makmur.

Do pray for our safe journey to and fro our destinations.

Take care of yourselves. Don't listen to rumours. Check and doublecheck any info you receive and prepare yourselves both in body and spirit to welcome the best month of our Islamic calendar, Ramadhan al Mubarak.

Wabillahi Taufik Wal Hidayah.

Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

Best wishes and warmest regards from,

Zainol Abideen a.k.a. Mahaguru58.

Somebody is leaving ....because Ramadan is coming!

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslims.

I came across this cleverly designed poster that announces the leaving of Syaitan Laknatullah soon because the holiest month in the Islamic Calendar is just 2 days away.

I can't wait for Ramadan to be with us once more because of the heightened sense of the faith of Muslims worldwide in performing the Saum @ Fasting during the day and worshiping Almighty Allah in the night.

The general feeling of Muslim brotherhood and sisterhood, the sights and sounds, smells of the blessed month.

It's heartening to see Muslims congregate at the masjids and perform their ibadah. The general feel good atmosphere and fragrances pervading our nostrils as we pray in congregation at our nearest masjids.

The various Ramadan delicacies that once a year traders sell at the many Ramadan Bazaars that crop up like mushrooms all over the country.

A religious fest.

Insya Allah.

I would like to wish all Muslims a blessed Ramadan and pray that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will accept our amals and ibadah without reservations.

May He forgive us our sins and accord to us whatever that we deserve both here on Earth and in the Akhirat, Insya Allah.

Malaysia's Parliament or the tyrannical BN's Parliament?

Have you been following the antics of the so called Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament?

The man has somewhat willed himself to believe that he is the Almighty Know it All and the 'King of the Malaysian Parliament' by the way he misleads himself into thinking and believing that he is the one who lords over the entire Malaysian Parliament?

I had refrained all these while from speaking on the subject accepting the fact that there are people like that who when given an appointment to be the speaker of the Parliament, are bound to give way to their bloody, bloated ego to creep in silently overnight, thinking that 'Hey! I am the Top Honcho here in Bolehland's Parliament!'

Have you seen his arrogance?

'Bila saya berkata senyap, harus semua senyap!'

'Apabila saya membuat keputusan mengatakan ianya muktamad, maka ianya muktamad!'

Such sheer arrogance!!!

The fella thinks that the nation's Parliament belongs to him!!! @#$%^&*!!!

No wonder that the current Parliament is just a House of Madness!!!

With such an arrogant, pompous ass presiding! Give us a break!!!

I for one do not have the slightest bit of respect left anymore for these kind of creatures masquerading as the honorable ones of the nation!!!

They can go take a flying leap into the nearest Alam Flora sewage pond for all I care!

Sheeeeessshhh!!!

The Malaysian Parliament can be likened to the Monkey Bar!

Don't believe me?

What do you have to say about this following episode?

I just wonder as to why the hell do the people in Kinabatangan, Sabah keep sending this moron to the Parliament?

Don't tell me that there are just no decent chap in the place to replace this ape?

Sheeeeshh...and you expect us to call them Yang Berhormat's @ Honorable One's???

Hahahahahahaha???

Comedy Court deserves more respect than the bunch of tyrants representing the Bloody Nincompoops at the so called Parliament!

YB Indi Nadarajah and Allan Pereira would be a much more better replacement for the bozos crowding some of the MP seats there?

Who agrees? Hehehehehehe...

Indi and Allan,

Thank you guys! You two are surely a breath of fresh air for the nation after listening to all the bullshit spewed in our gone el loco Parliament!!!

YB P44 Permatang Pauh Datuk Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim Swearing in Ceremony at Malaysia's Parliament Videos.

Part 1.

Part 2.

RTM chose not to broadcast live the swearing in ceremony of the victorious PKR Supremo and Member of Parliament for the P44 Permatang Pauh Parliamentary Constituency, YB Datuk Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim for reasons that we all know best!

RTM is just another chicken shit BN asskissing official broadcasting station that since day one has been nothing but a propaganda unit for the BN.

Thanks to the internet, despite the dirty lowdown tricks of the ball less Ministry of (Mis)Information, Malaysians all over the nation still get to watch the swearing in ceremony care of You Tube.

I was busy with servicing our car the whole day and only got to come online now.

Will add more to this posting later.

In the meantime, enjoy the videos.

Selamat bertugas YB Permatang Pauh. Usah pedulikan perangai jelek dan kebudak2an Yang Bengong Yang Bengong BN yang kononnya 'mulia' itu?

Kami rakyat jelata tahu yang mana intan dan yang mana plastik!

Ugly Malaysians flourishing under Abdullah Badawi's rule.

My fellow Malaysians,

It is a sad reality that under the rule of Abdullah Badawi, the quality of Malaysian morals and standards are on the way down.

I wish to reiterate that what I am going to emphasize is going to concern mainly the Malays who are Muslims and I want to address my long kept grievances to those so called Malay BN leaders who hold authoritative executive powers over the lives of my fellow Muslims here in this bountiful and blessed but grossly abused land which we all call our motherland?

Well, I am sure that most of us know that the Malaysian Malays who happen to be Muslim are fast proving themselves to be so just in name only?

I don't have to tell you as to the shocking degradation that many of the Malays have descended into? Both in the urban and rural areas of this country.

I was driving home from the Jusco Maluri departmental store at Jalan Cheras today when I had to slow down trapped in a jam due to the traffic lights shorting out at the junction in front of the PGRM building.

Traffic was backed up all the way to the exit in front of the Jusco Maluri and our car was just at the bus stop where due to the rain, many people were taking shelter at the bus stop. There were all kinds of people there. All ethnicities and faiths were there. In the midst of all those people, what did I see?

A Malay youth fondling a tudung clad Malay girl right before all these people!!!

He was standing close to her back and they seem to be a couple. Yet, without giving a hoot to all the nearby people, this bastard was just having a whale of a time groping and kissing the obviously uncomfortable girl!!!

Yeah, you all know what happens next?

This old man just switched my car's window down and berated the @#$%^&&! idiot right there and then!!! The bastard feigned innocence and denied doing anything wrong!

I just said to him that I know he doesn't give a shit about other people around him but he better be aware of Allah Almighty watching his dastardly deeds!!!

I don't know people! I keep running into these kinds of animals in human form and almost always these animals are of the Bumiputera version!!!

I seldom see Non Malays and Non Muslims behave in such a 'kurang ajar' way in public.

Why the hell is these happening?

To accuse all Malays of misbehaving like these would be unfair of me but damn them to hell, I can just say that it's so bloody frustrating to see a large growing number of Malay youths be so bloody rude and disrespectful of the general Malaysian public nowadays!

This is the result of the poorest and weakest rule of the ones who call themselves as honorable Muslim leaders like Abdullah Badawi and gang?

Damn them all to hell!!!

Even the so called 'Ketua Agama Islam' of the Malay states have yet to ever take any constructive steps to stem the spreading moral rot amongst the Malay Muslims!!!

Talk about hypocrites in power?

The responsibility to stop evil is with all Muslims regardless of their social status or ethnic origins?

Society nowadays tends to be so very apologetic and 'liberal' in a sense that people just turn their eyes from looking at the degrading mannerisms of these wayward Malays who aren't inhibited anymore in following their animal instincts.

Sure, they get mighty offended if anyone calls them animals but the way they misbehave warrants such a term upon their sorry asses!

I for one hail the likes of YB Gobalakrishnan , the Padang Serai MP when he berated a corrupt policeman who tried to show his 'color' yesterday at the Kubang Semang Toll area?

I salute YB Gobala for socking it to the Malay policeman who was obviously trying to interfere with YB Gobala's catching the busloads of BN 'phantom voters' from Melaka!

For a few measly ringgits, these scoundrels will sell even the land, their wife, children, etc. was what YB Gobala gave it to them straight in their face!

That takes balls and courage to smash it to the police officers who tried to 'slow talk' YB Gobala out of the situation yesterday!

Malaysian Malay Muslims are sure going from bad to worse under the tutelage of the clueless Imam Hadhari!

I can only do what I can within my limited means and capabilities.

In the hereafter, all these scoundrels and 'Heads of Islam' will definitely have to face Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala and answer for their treachery for failing to protect and guide the going down the drain Malay youths!

Hypocrites of the lowest levels!

Just wait for the retribution of Allah Azza Wa Jalla!

Take a break Malaysia - Enjoy a Phua Chu Kang moment!

Fellow Malaysians,
Too much politics can drive us nuts! Now that Anwar is back in the political mainstream and has been voted back into prominence to fight for the Malaysian people, it's just right to take a break and clear the mind for a brief moment.

One of my favorite comedy breaks is the ever popular Singaporean superstar Gurmit Singh a.k.a. Phua Chu Kang and his 'Ah Beng'ness!

Hehehehe!

Don't play play aaa?

Disclaimer: Mahaguru58 does not endorse any PCK's acts of 'Ah Beng'ness , drinking of XO or playing of Sports Toto, etc.

I am just sharing with you a comedy moment in the spirit of laughing along at his antics together with his crew!

Hehehehehe...

Anyone following the path of Phua Chu Kang & Company do so at their own free will!

Be warned! :D

PERMATANG PAUH, MALAYSIA, 26 Ogos 2008

Allah memberikan kita kejayaan.

PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PERMATANG PAUH, MALAYSIA, 26 AUGUST 2008

We won! And our victory is decisive and overwhelming.

I share in the joy felt by all Malaysians on this historic day. This is a victory for the people. And it’s great to be back!

On March 8th Malaysians voted for a New Dawn. Today, on the eve of our independence day, we have reasserted that call. We celebrate our nation’s independence in the spirit that our founding fathers intended - a nation of one and a people united.

In the face of the greatest adversity, our campaign focused on the issues that matter to Malaysians. Our calls for national unity, good governance and a vibrant democracy have silenced the voices of racist chanting, those who profit from the abuse of power and exploit the politics of fear and deceit.

We have promised a New Dawn for Malaysia and we will deliver on our promise. We will forge ahead on our Malaysian Economic Agenda to revive the economy, and to uplift the poor and the marginalized of all races. We will restore the integrity of the judiciary, fight corruption and build a truly unified nation.

We will be a government that is totally committed to realizing the people’s aspirations.

With the success of the eight of March and tonight’s resounding victory, I daresay we are indeed ready to face the challenges of the future, together.

We could not have won without the firm, unwavering support of our friends in the Pakatan Rakyat and the tens of thousands of Malaysians – Malays, Chinese, Indians, Ibans, Kadhazans - who have come to Permatang Pauh to work hard for this victory. I truly appreciate your courage, conviction and valour; and congratulate your commitment to our shared principles of freedom, justice and democracy.

This may be one small step for Permatang Pauh but one giant leap for the people of Malaysia.

ANWAR IBRAHIM

PDRM Seberang Jaya. Please release YB Gobala & Family!

Dear PDRM,

I know that you guys are beholden to the Federal Government run by the BN but please have some compassion in your hearts and release YB Gobalakrishnan and his family from your Seberang Jaya lockups.

Things got hot and tempers might have flared as they caught those 'phantom voters'!

I mean we all know that such buses coming from Melaka are suspect for what tourist attractions are there besides the Tuanku Bainun Institute to warrant their 'excursion' for an hour there?

YB Gobalakrishnan and the other PKR members were just doing their duty in apprehending those buses of 'phantom voters'!

As the appointed authorities to prevent such electoral fraud, the PDRM ought to have helped arrest such criminals instead of busting the ones who caught such vermin?

Dear PDRM officers,

Do the right thing and release the family unharmed for the sake of goodwill and in conjunction with the spirit of our nation's 51st Independence Day!

The P44 Permatang Pauh By Election is over!

The people have chosen their MP!

Let's all start getting this nation back in order and get rid of further heartaches in the spirit of nation building and removal of deadwood and rotten scum from the corridors of power here in Malaysia.

Be a sport guys and let the family of YB Gobalakrishnan return home with their dad.

Verily Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala loves those who show compassion and mercy.

Please! Do the right thing! PDRM Boleh!

"Merdekakan mereka!"

Thanking you in anticipation,

Zainol Abideen.

There are many more dedicated fellow bloggers reporting from the ground zero there at P44 Permatang Pauh Parliamentary By Election but these are the ones whom I visit every now and then to update myself as to the latest happenings.

From what I hear is taking place there at Permatang Pauh, is that the BN especially UMNO are sparing no quarters in utilizing every agency and government machinery at their disposal and going all out to deny Anwar Ibrahim his passage to Parliament.

We have seen blatant money politics where Ng Yen Yen has been dishing out RM200 in envelopes to the elderly folk in Permatang Pauh and reminding them to vote for the BN?

We have seen UMNO resorting to dirty tricks and buying influence by having on the spot loan approvals for those who need micro loans and giving out RM50 as travelling allowances to just anyone who surrenders their MyKad particulars for 'instant loan processing'!

Why now? Where was UMNO when the folks were in hardships?

We see the mainstream multimedia being used by the BN to conduct their continuous 'character assassination' of Anwar Ibrahim, the contesting PKR candidate for P44 Permatang Pauh.

We saw Saiful Bukhari Azlan coming out on the eve of the Nomination Day for the said parliamentary by election and swear in the name of the Almighty that he was buggered by Anwar?

We see statements after statements by the UMNO leadership and BN bigshots condemning Anwar as if they are all so sinfree and spotlessly Mr.Clean's?

We see the intimidatory tactics employed by the Malaysian Police Force answering to their BN masters in coming down in full force as if a civil war is going to break out at Permatang Pauh!

We hear from 'Mufti Cari Makan' who endorse the swearing of this and that political gigolo and every BN political goon out there who go around speaking as if they know more than any other person here in Malaysia about what really happened disregarding the statutory declaration of the very medical doctor who examined and found nothing to show evidence that a sodomy had taken place upon Saiful's arsehole?

We see the Malaysian Parliament hurriedly approve and legislate a law that calls for compulsory taking of DNA samples from those who are accused of any crime in this country.

Who knows if they will as they damn well please backdate the approval date of this law to enforce such law on Anwar Ibrahim whom they are trying all out to incriminate by planting such appropriated DNA samples into the gigolo's rectal area?

For the record, Malaysia has surpassed all records in making amendments to this country's Colonial Heritage @ the Malaysian Constitution in order to make it easier for the ruling coalition to stay in power eternally!

More than 600 over amendments of this 51 year old nation, I hear compared to just about 60 over for the 200 over years old USA?

ISA? Ikut Suka Aku!!!

Well, whatever?

All I know is that if the results tonight show the polls in favor of the BN, then there is just no other answer except that there has been the 'MOTHER OF ALL ELECTION VOTES RIGGING' that would have taken place over there in P44 Parlimen Permatang Pauh where the popular candidate is none other than the PKR candidate Datuk Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim!!!

Let's all see what transpires at 2100 hours tonight?

In the meantime, just click onto any of the screenshots of these blogs I have featured above to catch the latest true news!!!

Coming from these bloggers whom we can rely upon for unedited as it takes place election news from ground zero over there!!!

Unlike mainstream media who get paid, these people do it out of their love for the nation and spend their own money to do this great service for the sake of truth and justice!!!

If that isn't proof of their sacrifice for the sake of the truth and justice to be upheld here in Bolehland, I do not know what else is?

I couldn't be there because I had to attend my own 'cari makan' meeting with a new university launching soon next month!

Anyway, my prayers and wellwishes are always there with each of my fellow bloggers here and for the people of Permatang Pauh to do what's right!

Send Anwar Ibrahim to Parliament for the sake of this country to be saved from further racist politics and end the undeclared apartheid policies strangulating this nation under the rule of UMNO and their BN ass kissing coalition parties!

Let justice prevail in P44 Permatang Pauh!

Update : Read Tukar Tiub Blogspot and Wartawan Rasmi Laman Reformasi for the latest explosive news concerning 'ghost voters' caught by the busloads to steal the show from Anwar!!!

Ramlang Porigi's Confession, BN's Election Corruption, EC's 'Tidak Apa' Situation?

That was the Masjid Wilayah Imam Ramlang bin Porigi's Clarification!

Thank you Ustaz Ramlang! Now, the whole nation and the world knows as to who were behind the Saiful Bukhari swearing charade?

If you had failed to do so, then surely you will be just another statistic of those whom the BN screwed and destroyed your future and your life for nothing!

Good of you to come upfront and clear your name and salvage your reputation!

Now let's take a look at this blatant BN's Election Campaign Corruption!

Disguised as a Social Welfare Contribution to the elderly but where the BN Minister Ng Yen Yen kept reminding the elderly folks of P44 Permatang Pauh now that they have received the RM200 'allocation', they must not forget the BN's CONTRIBUTION? Undi Barisan???

Read here at Susan Loone's blog about how the BN has violated all rules and regulations pertaining to the offense of corruption during the election campaign for the P44 Permatang Pauh Parliamentary By Election, scheduled for Polling Day on August 26th 2008!

Now, if this isn't a clear act of corruption, I do not know what other proof does the Elections Commission need to order the BN be disqualified from this P44 Permatang Pauh 'Buy Election'?

Is there a severe case of 'See No Evil, Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil' affecting the Malaysian Election Commission?

How come they seem to be so bloody blind as to all these kind of blatant abuses of power and criminal acts that breach the election rules and regulations?

How does the Suruhanjaya Pilihanraya Malaysia even has the moral standing to claim being fair to the contesting parties when such outrageously open acts of corruption be allowed by them without any corrective action???

Why have the Malaysian Police not taken any action against the BN? Double standards or don't dare to?

Is justice still present in this land or is it a case of 'Just Tease'?

Dear Permatang Pauh voters, prove us right by voting for the PKR candidate.

Hidup Rakyat! Undi lah Anwar Ibrahim, Calon PKR P44 Parlimen Permatang Pauh!

Islam: Governing Under Sharia - Discussing its points.

Dear Readers,

I came across this article titled 'Islam: Governing Under Sharia' authored by Sharon Otterman, Associate Director, of the Council on Foreign Relations based in New York, United States of America.

This article was published on March 14, 2005.

The article raises and attempts to answer the following questions:
  1. How have various Muslim countries applied sharia?
  2. What is sharia?
  3. Does sharia apply only to religious matters?
  4. Is there only one interpretation of sharia?
  5. What are the five schools?
  6. How do the rules of each school differ?
  7. Do observant Muslims have to adhere to tenets of one of the five schools?
  8. Do traditional sharia laws continue to apply in modern countries?
  9. How does sharia become part of the law of modern Islamic states?
  10. How is sharia applied to banking and finance laws?
  11. How does sharia influence modern criminal law?
  12. For which crimes does the Qur'an mandate specific punishments?
  13. Where are these laws applied?
  14. What happens in the case of apostasy?
  15. How is Islamic personal law implemented today?
  16. What are the traditional sharia laws governing personal status issues?
  17. Are non-Muslims bound by personal status sharia courts?
Question 1 - How have various Muslim countries applied sharia?

Sharia, or Islamic law, influences the legal code in most Islamic countries, but the extent of its impact varies widely.

Avowedly secular Turkey is at one extreme. It doesn't base its laws on the Quran, and some government-imposed rules--such as a ban on women's veils--are contrary to practices often understood as Islamic.

At the devout end of the spectrum are the Islamic Republic of Iran, where mullahs are the ultimate authority, and Saudi Arabia, a monarchy where the Quran is considered the constitution.

In 1959, Iraq modified its sharia-based family law system and became one of the Middle East's least religious states.

Whether sharia should be more strictly applied in post-Saddam Hussein Iraq is one of the most divisive issues facing the transitional government?

Question 2 -What is the Sharia?

Literally, it means "path," or "path to water," says Clark Lombardi, an expert on Islamic law at the University of Washington's School of Law.

In its religious sense, it means God's Law' ; the body of commands that, if followed, will provide the path to salvation.

According to Islamic teaching, sharia is revealed in divine signs that must be interpreted by humans. The law is derived from four main sources:
  1. the Al-Quran, Islam's holy book, considered the literal word of God;
  2. the Hadith's, or record of the actions and sayings of the Prophet Mohammed, whose life is to be emulated;
  3. Ijma, the consensus of Islamic scholars; and
  4. Qiyas, a kind of reasoning that uses analogies to apply precedents established by the holy texts to problems not covered by them, for example, a ban on narcotics based on the Qur'anic injunction against wine-drinking.
Question 3-Does sharia apply only to religious matters?

No. Sharia governs all aspects of life, from relations between men and women to ethics in business and banking.

Some aspects of sharia have become part of modern legal codes and are enforced by national judicial systems, while others are a matter of personal conscience.

Entirely secular law is not an option under a classical interpretation of Islam, experts say. "In Islam, there is no separation between the secular and the sacred. The law is suffused with religion," says David Powers, a professor of Islamic law and history at Cornell University.

Question 4 - Is there only one interpretation of sharia?

No. Five major schools of sharia developed after the death of the Prophet Mohammed and during the Middle Ages--four in the Sunni tradition and one in the Shiite tradition.

A school consists of a guild, or group of scholars, that developed specific interpretations of Islamic law; over the centuries, its precedents became legally binding.

Muslims in different geographical regions favored different sharia schools, a practice that continues to this day.

Question 5 - What are the five schools?

Middle Eastern countries of the former Ottoman Empire favor Hanafi school doctrine, while North African countries prefer Maliki doctrine; Indonesia and Malaysia favor Shafi'i doctrine; Saudi Arabia adheres to Hanbali doctrine; and Iran follows the Shiite Jaafari school.

Question 6 - How do the rules of each school differ?

They are broadly similar, because they are derived from the same sacred sources, experts say. However, some schools take a more literal approach to the texts; others allow for looser interpretations.

And there are also important differences between Sunni and Shiite Sharia.

For example, Shiites recognize a practice called mut'aah, or temporary marriage; Sunnis do not.

And Shiite inheritance laws differ from Sunni practices.

Question 7 - Do observant Muslims have to adhere to tenets of one of the five schools?

Not necessarily. Modernist thinkers since the 19th century have argued for new interpretations of Islamic law, and actual practice varies for each individual. "The Islamic sharia is not an easily identifiable set of rules that can be mechanically applied, but a long and quite varied intellectual tradition," says Nathan Brown, an expert on Arab constitutionalism at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Question 8 - Do traditional sharia laws continue to apply in modern countries?

Yes. Most Middle Eastern countries continue to incorporate some traditional sharia into their legal codes, especially in the area of personal-status law, which governs marriage, divorce, and inheritance.

In other areas of the law, such as the criminal code, most Islamic nations have attempted to limit the application of traditional sharia, replacing it either with secular legislation or with laws characterized as modern interpretations of sharia.

Iran and Saudi Arabia are exceptions--they claim to fully implement sharia in all areas of the law.

In general, each nation's legal code is unique and reflects a variety of historical and cultural influences, experts say.

Many Middle Eastern legal codes, for example, have their roots in the Napoleonic law system and the Ottoman Empire, Brown says.

Question 9 - How does sharia become part of the law of modern Islamic states?

Through three main routes:

1. The Constitution
:

Many Islamic countries acknowledge Islamic law in their constitutions by making Islam the official religion of the country or by stating that sharia is a source--or the source--of the nation's laws.

For example, Article II of the 1980 Egyptian constitution states that Islam is the religion of the state and "Islamic jurisprudence is the principal source of legislation."

Iraq's interim constitution, passed under the U.S.-led occupation, makes Islam "a source of legislation" and stipulates that no law may "contradict the universally agreed tenets of Islam."

The 1992 Basic Law of Saudi Arabia states that the nation's constitution consists of the Quran and the sunna, the actions and sayings of the prophet as recorded in the hadith.

Article IV of the Iranian constitution states that "all civil, penal, financial, economic, administrative, cultural, military, political, and other laws and regulations must be based on Islamic criteria."

And Article 227(1) of the Pakistani constitution reads, "All existing laws shall be brought in conformity with the injunctions of Islam as laid down in the Holy Quran and sunna ... and no law shall be enacted which is repugnant to such injunctions."

2. National law:

Sharia has been also incorporated into Islamic national legal codes by decree or legislation.

Depending on the country, sharia courts that oversee marriage and other personal law matters are headed either by a secular judge or by an Islamic judge called a qadi.

In Saudi Arabia and Iran, supreme religious councils dictate how Islamic law is applied and, to a large extent, have veto power over legislation.

In mixed religious-secular systems, such as in Egypt,sharia personal law courts are integrated into a Western-based legal system, and a secular supreme court has the final say, Brown says.

3. Sub-national law:

Some religiously and ethnically diverse nations that used a federal governmental model--including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Nigeria--allow states or provinces the option of applying aspects of sharia. Because of its adaptability, this federal model for sharia"may well be an important model going forward," Lombardi says.

Question 10 - How is sharia applied to banking and finance laws?

Islamic banking and finance is a rapidly expanding industry that seeks to harmonize modern business practices and traditional religious norms.

Classical sharia prohibits riba, the charging of interest.

It also condemns excessive profits and requires Muslims to invest only in ventures that are consistent with Islamic principles; for example, investing in a brewery or casino is forbidden.

The Islamic finance industry, with estimated assets of $200 billion to $300 billion, represents a small chunk of the global marketplace, but is "already playing a significant role in the financial systems in the Middle East," said John B. Taylor, U.S. Under Secretary of the Treasury, in a 2004 address.

Some Muslim countries, including Malaysia, are making an effort to issue national bonds that comply with sharia principles.

And in 2002, eight Muslim countries--Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Sudan, Bahrain, and Kuwait--launched a new organization, the Services Board Islamic Financial, to set common standards for Islamic banking.

Question 11 - How does sharia influence modern criminal law?

Many Islamic nations--such as Jordan, Kuwait, Pakistan, and Yemen--have certain criminal laws that reflect traditional Islamic practice, banning Muslims, for example, from drinking or selling alcohol.

Enforcement of these laws is often spotty, and non-Muslims are generally exempted.

The vast majority of Islamic nations no longer apply the traditional corporal punishments for violations of specific Quranic criminal laws.

These punishments include flogging, amputation, and stoning.

Question 12 - For which crimes does the Quran mandate specific punishments?

Five crimes known as the Hadd offenses, Lombardi says. Because these offenses are mentioned in the Quran, committing them is considered an affront to God.

They are:

  1. Wine-drinking and, by extension, alcohol-drinking, punishable by flogging
  2. Unlawful sexual intercourse, punishable by flogging for unmarried offenders and stoning to death for adulterers
  3. False accusation of unlawful sexual intercourse, punishable by flogging
  4. Theft, punishable by the amputation of a hand
  5. Highway robbery, punishable by amputation, or execution if the crime results in a homicide.
Question 13 - Where are these laws applied?

Adopting hadd punishments is considered a symbol of a country’s Islamic identity, even if they are rarely carried out, Powers says.

Saudi Arabia and Iran have hadd crimes on the books, as do some federal states in Nigeria.

However, the most severe punishments--stoning and amputation--are inflicted sparingly, experts say, in part because the Quran insists on strict evidentiary standards.

"They aren't applied in cases of doubt," Powers says.

States often go beyond the Quranic safeguards to add new ones.

Pakistan has hadd punishments on the books, but it has set up a series of procedural roadblocks to insure they can be enforced by the state only rarely, if ever, Lombardi says.

Still, vigilante applications of hadd punishments occur in Pakistan and other parts of the Islamic world.

Question 14 - What happens in the case of apostasy?

The traditional punishment for Islamic apostasy--leaving Islam for another religion or otherwise abandoning the Islamic faith--is death.

The best-known modern case involved author Salman Rushdie, whose 1988 novel, "The Satanic Verses," offended many devout Muslims.

Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the Supreme Leader of Iran, declared Rushdie an apostate and condemned him to death.

In 1993, an Egyptian court ruled that the writings of Nasr Abu Zayd, a professor, were evidence of apostasy.

The court ordered that Zayd be divorced from his Muslim wife (Zayd now lives with his wife in the Netherlands).

The vast majority of Muslim nations no longer prescribe death for apostates.

On the other hand, says Powers, "Many modern Islamic nations say they guarantee freedom of religion. But this does not necessarily include the right to speak openly against Islam and act on those ideas."

Conversions from Islam to other religions are generally not permitted in Muslim countries.

Question 15 - How is Islamic personal law implemented today?

Islamic principles still form the foundations of the legal code governing marriage, divorce, and inheritance in most Islamic nations.

On the other hand, many nations have changed classical sharia restrictions, often to expand the rights of women.

Such changes have become a major human rights and women's rights issue in the Muslim world, pitting reformists--who want to modernize the law and bring it into line with international norms--against Islamists, "who want the restoration of Islamic law lock, stock, and barrel," Powers says.

Question 16 -What are the traditional sharia laws governing personal status issues?
  • Marriage:
Islamic marriage is a contract between a man and a woman. In the broadest of terms, the husband pledges to support his wife in exchange for her obedience, Brown says.

Women can demand certain rights by writing them into the marriage contract, but the man is the head of the family, and traditionally, a wife may not act against her husband's wishes.

(The Quran permits men to use light physical force against disobedient wives in some circumstances, Powers says.)

Traditional practices still have significant impact on modern law: in Yemen and other nations, a woman cannot work if her husband expressly forbids it.

In Syria, a wife can work without her husband's consent, if she renounces her claim on him for financial support.

Under Sharia, a Muslim woman cannot be married legally to a non-Muslim man, but a Muslim man can be married to a non-Muslim woman.

Marriages can traditionally take place at young ages--in Iran, the age of consent is 13 for females and 15 for males, and younger with a court's permission.

In Yemen, the minimum marriage age is 15.
  • Divorce:
Under sharia, the husband has the unilateral right to divorce his wife without cause.

He can accomplish this by uttering the phrase "I divorce you" three times over the course of three months.

If he does divorce her, he must pay her a sum of money agreed to before the wedding in the marriage contract and permit her to keep her dowry, Powers says.

Classical Sharia lays out very limited conditions under which a woman can divorce a man--he must be infertile at the time of marriage; insane; or have leprosy or another contagious skin disease.

Most Islamic nations, including Egypt and Iran, now allow women to sue for divorce for many other reasons, including the failure to provide financial support.
  • Polygamy:
The Quran gives men the right to have up to four wives.

There are some traditional limitations: a man must treat all co-wives equitably, provide them with separate dwellings, and acknowledge in a marriage contract his other spouses, if any.

A woman cannot forbid the practice, but can insist on a divorce if her husband takes a second wife.

Polygamy remains on the books in most Islamic countries, but some countries limit it through legislation.

It is banned in Tunisia and Turkey, though reportedly it is still practiced in some areas of Turkey.
  • Custody:
In a divorce, the children traditionally belong to the father, but the mother has the right to care for them while they are young, Powers says.

The age at which a mother loses custody differs from nation to nation.

In Iran, the mother's custody ends at seven for boys and girls;

in Pakistan, it's seven for boys and puberty for girls. Many nations, however, allow courts to extend the mother's custody if it is deemed in the child's interest.
  • Inheritance:
Mothers, wives, and daughters are guaranteed an inheritance in the case of a man's death.

In the seventh century A.D., when the law was developed, this was a major step forward for women, Powers says.

However, sharia also dictates that men inherit twice the share of women because, traditionally, men were responsible for women, Powers says.

Question 17 - Are non-Muslims bound by personal status sharia courts?

Generally speaking, no.

Minorities in Muslim nations are generally governed under separate personal-status laws reflecting their own traditions, experts say.

In Egypt, for example, Coptic Christians marry under Christian law, and foreigners marry under the laws of their countries of origin, Brown says.

Criminal law, which is generally no longer based on sharia, applies to both foreigners and citizens.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Generally speaking, most Muslim nations of the current times have failed to implement the Sharia Laws of Islam to the letter.
Many of these countries pick and choose whichever parts and portions of the Sharia Laws of Allah, Almighty God to suit their purposes and ignore the consequences of tampering with the Laws of God and instead conjure up their own versions to fulfill their own interests.
As a result, we have injustice being perpetrated in many so called Muslim nations but done so in the Name of Allah?
Such treachery remains to this day and result in many Muslims or even Non Muslims having misconstrued ideas or ill will towards the 'Sharia Courts' of today, regardless as to whichever country or nation of this world that they live in?
I refer to the Sharia Courts that we have here in Malaysia.
They do not in the real sense of the word put to practice the true Sharia Laws of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala!
I just posed this question to Al Ustaz Professor Datuk Dr.Harun Din, one of the most respected Ulamaks of Malaysia this morning, who happens to be one of my favored scholars of Islam and he answered that whatever forms of Sharia Justice systems we have here is just a legacy of the British Colonial Administration.
The British had seen to it that the Sharia Laws that were prevalent from the times of the glorious era of the Malaccan Sultanate which were incorporated as the basis of the 'Hukum Kanun Melaka' were relegated to the archives and museums of this country.
In it's place they cleverly ensured that Islam was just made into the 'official religion' of this country but the justice system of 'Persekutuan Tanah Melayu' was replaced with their British Common Law, which is being implemented right up to this day!
Those who have the opportunity to visit the Muzium Persuratan Melaka are most welcome to go have a look at the exhibits there which highlight the way the Sharia Laws were implemented to the letter in the glorious era of the Malaccan Malay Sultanate.
Today, the 'Hukum Kanun Melaka' is forgotten by many modern day Malaysians who do not even have an inkling as to the existence of what the 'Kesultanan Melayu Melaka' used to rule their vast Malay Empire by?
The problems surfacing today as a result of the current day Government of Malaysia facing problems involving the injustice caused to both Muslims and Non Muslims as a result of the inefficient 'watered down' and 'manmade' Sharia systems of Malaysia are a culmination of the irresponsible failure to adhere to the true Sharia Laws revealed to all Mankind by Almighty Allah Himself and the way, the present rulers fail to abide by the true Hadiths of Rasul Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam.
Mankind today come up with their own laws and rules running contrary to what Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala and His Messenger have left for us?
A reader of my blog has this to say when commenting on one particular posting of mine which touches on the rights of Non Muslims to seek justice through the Sharia Courts :
Trashed said...
The main reason why families of persons who wish to convert to Islam (whether by marriage or self awareness) object is that Islam is a "one way road", to quote Cikgu Aliyah.
Secondly, the family and property (civil) laws of Malaysia have seemingly been subjugated in recent times in those highly publicised cases.
Put these two points together, it should be clear as daylight why non-Muslims in Malaysia "discourage" family members from converting to Islam.
Thus, there needs to be a legal structure in place to ensure that all parties in what is a "family" matter be treated in a fair manner.
I disagree with M58's view that it should be handled by the Syariah court. If the family members are not Muslim, they have no locus standi in the Syariah court, whereas civil procedures provides legal standing for both the convert and his/her family members. Also, if a marriage was entered into by civil marriage, surely the exit is by a civil divorce and not by other jurisdiction. In that sense, Cikgu Aliyah is absolutely correct - the rights of every citzen should be protected.
Of course, it could happen when the day comes where the Syariah court has legislation to provide locus standi to non-Muslims ... but, do you see that happening ?
Now, I do not refute what the commenter is saying above due to the very reasons that the Sharia Courts that we have here in Malaysia are only a very faint shade of what a Shariah Court must really be?
In my opinion, a Shariah Court must abide a 100% by exactly what Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has commanded us to rule by and in accordance to what His Final Messenger, Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam enjoined us to?
Prof. Datuk Dr.Harun Din agreed with me when I reminded him that the Shariah Courts of Madinah didn't differentiate between Muslims and Non Muslims back then and all were given equal opportunity to seek justice through the Shariah Courts of Islam?
I have come across many instances in my studies about this matter where the Non Muslim Jews of Madinah had sought justice through the Shariah Courts of Islam there and were given their rights as per the Qur'an and Hadiths and in many such trials they won their cases and were awarded what was their rightfully theirs and had triumphed over Muslims whom they brought to court!!!
So, I do not agree that Non Muslims have no locus standi in the Shariah Courts of Islam!
The Shariah Courts that we have here today are the ones at fault for not giving true Islamic Justice to both Muslims and Non Muslims who have equal rights to be judged according to what Allah Azza Wa Jalla and the Final Messenger of Allah, the Blessed Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam have given us, the Children of Adam Alaihis Salam to use as our platform for upholding the Truth and to Seek Justice, irrespective of one's creed or color!
Any true Muslim scholar worth his title and designation must be brave enough to speak the truth and nothing but the truth and acknowledge that what we have here masquerading as the Shariah Courts of this country has yet to live up to the true standards of justice that has been revealed by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala!!!
I pray that our nation's ulamaks will be able to really live up to their names and ensure that every human being here in Malaysia is given their fair chance and accorded their rights to justice as Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has revealed for us, without fear or favor?
To my fellow Malaysians who happen to be Non Muslims, do know that you have every right to seek justice through the Sharia systems of Islamic Justice.
Only thing you have to be aware of is that the present systems they have here as the Syariah Courts fall short of the actual standards of Islam and are contrary to what the Holy Qur'an and the Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad have ruled?
Let's hope that in the days to come, we will see the true Islamic Sharia of Allah the Most Merciful be upheld and put to practice here in Malaysia.
Ameen.
Implications of SUHAKAM's Study on Mu'alaf's Marriages.
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
This is a heartfelt sharing of thoughts by Cikgu Aliya Yeoh who blogs at Musings of a Mualaf.
Cikgu Aliya is a member of The Muslim Bloggers Alliance and her writings have always been a source of pleasure, knowledge and a window into the heart and soul of a committed and dedicated revert to Islam.
She is an excellent writer and brilliant storyteller. I find her writings so alive and full of passion for Islam, life and everything that's precious and beautiful!
To me, Cikgu Aliya is not only a good friend online but also a shining example of a true Muslimah whom Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has blessed with the best of Iman, akhlak and wisdom in helping to mould the hearts and minds of her students to be exemplary citizens of Malaysia.
Cikgu Aliya just graduated from USM! Congratulations Cikgu! All my best wishes to you and pray that you will continue to excel in your noble career as an educator! Ameen.
Okay, let's get to the main article by Cikgu Aliya which I am featuring here today.
It's an important insight into how Cikgu Aliya, as a Mualaf @ Revert to Islam views the report in The Star about the findings of SUHAKAM concerning their 'studies' on issues cropping out of marriages that involve husbands or wives who convert /revert to Islam and the implications arising out of such cases?
Cikgu Aliya's comments are in green.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Suhakam has completed its study on issues arising from inter-faith marriages and one spouse changing his religion and will be submitting a report to the Prime Minister’s Department soon.

Among the proposals Suhakam had come up with was for those who planned to embrace Islam to marry a Muslim to study the religion in depth before their conversion, said Commissioner Datuk Dr Abdul Monir Yaacob.

(Right. Those who intend to embrace Islam should know that it's a one way road. That should be done accordingly and from the right people; namely PERKIM, MACMA, JIM, ABIM etc. Local Islamic Religious departments? Nahhhh...

And study the religion in depth? How much is enough? Isn't the 1-month mandatory lessons about Islam & Fardu Ain organised by the Islamic Religious Departments enough for a start?

BTW, not everyone who want to embrace Islam intend to marry a Muslim laa Datuk.. many of us are happy to be Muslim/Muslimah on our own accord.

No need to find a husband/wife to become a Muslim. It's the 21st century, grow up la Datuk!!!)

He added that family members should also be informed when a non-Muslim wants to embrace Islam so as to avoid problems later in relation to funeral rites or distribution of property after the person’s death.

(Yeah right... Which family in their right mind will simply accept their son/daughter/husband/wife to leave the comfort zone of one's original religion and embrace another religion? They'd fight tooth and nail to stop the conversion from ever taking place.

Perhaps it's wiser to suggest making it mandatory to inform the family members within 3 months after the person's reversion to Islam.

That should give ample time for the unmarried new revert to prepare for the confrontation with family members and for the married spouse to move to another residence.

The officers in charge at the local Islamic religious departments should be responsible for that - post the letter, call up, etc- and not just buat tak apa until a revert dies :P

A true, responsible Muslim will never hide his/her true religion & beliefs from his/her family for a long time)

“We feel that it is appropriate for non-Muslims to distribute their property, if any, to their close relatives before they convert to Islam, said Dr Abdul Monir yesterday.

(Hello.. who gives Suhakam the right to determine how a person spend his/her property?

It's an infringement of a person's right.

What if the person has no intention to distribute any of his/her hard-earned properties to any of his relatives because they don't deserve it - are drunkards or gamblers?

Does that mean he/she will not be allowed to revert to Islam? Pahhhhh!!!

If this is to be applied, same should be done to those Muslims who intend to leave Islam for other religions so that the rights of those parents of murtad will be protected!

Also why should only the rights of the non-Muslim spouse be protected?

What about the rights of the Muslim spouse?

There are wives who want to embrace Islam but are prevented due to the present law that states only Muslim husbands can divorce their wives.

That leaves wives who become Muslimahs and still married to non-Muslims in a dilemma because they can't divorce their husband nor ask for a divorce at the civil court.

I am one of the lucky few who manage to free myself (by getting a mutual divorce first without informing my ex about my intention to revert to Islam after the divorce) and pursue my dreams. What about the others?

There are husbands who want to embrace Islam but think many times due to the fact that their wives refuse to a divorce nor become Muslimahs along with the husband.

There are husbands who due to their wives' refusal to convert to Islam, have resorted to marrying another Muslim wife to share his life with, and like any good fathers, want their children to be brought up as Muslim children.

The rights of every citizen should be protected, Muslims and non-Muslims)

Property gained after conversion to Islam would be governed by Islamic law, he added at a dialogue here.

(Of course. That's faraid. As a born-Muslim surely you know more than I do about Islamic law, Datuk ???)

If you are a Muslim, you are bound by Islam to help anyone who sincerely intends to embrace Islam.

People who intend to revert to Islam should be helped, not prevented or discouraged by man-made laws designed to stop anyone from furthering their intention.

If I had told my family members and my former husband about my intention to embrace Islam, they will do everything to stop me. I tried to and had to wait 10 years.

If I had distributed my properties to close relatives before I embrace Islam, life would be more difficult for me as zakat is not automatically given to new reverts.

In short, people who intend to embrace Islam should be studied on case-to-case level, not simply by accepting proposals from those who have never undergone the hardships of becoming a Muslim or who are already against the reversion of non-Muslims to Islam.

If those who revert to Islam are married to non-Muslims, they should be required to settle their divorce amicably, with the Muslim husband following the Islamic rules of providing nafkah etc and the Muslim wife granted a quick divorce but without nafkah.

That should prevent husbands and wives who want to escape from responsibility.

Better still, get a divorce before embracing Islam officially.

The proposals by Suhakam is an insult to Islam and the Syariah Court. I wonder if Muslim NGOs are consulted.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, that is what Cikgu Aliya feels about the subject matter?
I figure that the authorities especially the Islamic Development Department @ JAKIM, ought to seriously handle this obviously sensitive but very important matter involving the future and lives of so many people and families from both sides of the faith.
It is also a serious matter of concern to all those affected by the consequences of our fellow Malaysians from other faiths who out of their own convictions and search for their inner peace of mind and realizing the Truth of Islam decide to embrace the faith and claim their birthright to be a Muslim.
No doubt that no one has the right to stop anyone else from embracing Islam for it is a fitrah for mankind but that should not also be abused by those who embrace Islam for economic reasons or as a way out of a problematic Non Muslim marriage?
I believe that only with proper handling of this very real and quite sensitive matter by dedicated, learned and compassionate Islamic Authority officers who are sincere in seeking the amicable solution to this ultra sensitive, touchy subject will be able to deal with those who are affected by the decision of the former Non Muslims to embrace Islam, in an appropriate and acceptable manner that all who are concerned can come to accept?
I acknowledge that the cases we have here are real and must be solved amicably through the Shariah Courts based upon what Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala commands and His Final Messenger has enjoined!
Failure to do that will only see this problem be an endless source of headaches and a bone of contention that remains stuck in every Malaysian's throat so to speak?
Let's hope that JAKIM gets down to solving the problems faced by both the Mualaf and his or her Non Muslim family once and for all!
My sincere appreciation to Cikgu Aliya for her contribution to the Muslim Bloggers Alliance and consent to have this article republished here for the benefit of all our fellow Malaysians to read and ponder as to the situation many reverts to Islam here in Malaysia, face, day in day out?
Jazakallah Cikgu.
Wabillahi Taufik Wal Hidayah.
Latest report from Permatang Pauh from Cikgu Aliya!
Blogger aliya said...
Assalamualaikum sifu,
Here in Seberang Jaya all PKR tents are full of people of all races eagerly helping to distribute pamphlets and posters.
BN tents are made up of a different race for each tent- Indian Muslims, Chinese, Malays,Indians (that often block the roads and are badly positioned beside junctions) are practically empty except for the people in charge.
It was drizzling tonight yet there were people carrying umbrellas and patiently listening to PKR open-air ceramah.
The tents with DSAI's ceramah on CD were full of people of all races patiently sitting and watching the show. There was no seat left.
It's a different senario at the BN tents where the few workers were practically "swatting at mosquitoes".
The people's reaction is enough to indicate the people's sentiments over here.
"Nasib si Najib". A DPM whom nobody wants?
video
I prayed my Solat Jumaat at the Masjid Putra, Putrajaya yesterday and witnessed a sorry episode of a Deputy Prime Minister whom no one bothered to greet or give salam to as he passed through the remaining jamaah?
It's not that I wish to belittle Najib Tun Razak but just that as a blogger who writes on this nation's socio-political-religious issues, I feel that it is important for Najib as a leader of this nation to reflect as to why his fellow Muslims aren't that enthusiastic about him?
As an Amir, one needs to be liked and supported by the Ummah. When the Ummah shy away from someone like Najib, the anointed premier in waiting, the signals radiating from this episode spells disaster for him in the future?
Hence, I title this short video as," Nasib si Najib".
Hope Najib ponders as to the reasons behind the Ummah's aversion to him.
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala guide us all.
Ameen.
P44- Parlimen Permatang Pauh. A story to ponder upon?
Dear fellow Malaysians,
I came across this short story which I feel is relevant to what's taking place at P44 Parlimen Permatang Pauh By Election?
Youth Perspectives: The Mouse Trap by Br. Ebrahim Varachia
A mouse looked through his little doorway to see what food the farmer had brought home in the mysterious package?
To the mouse’s astonishment the mouse discovered that the package contained nothing less than a mousetrap!
The mouse scurried out of the door and toward the farm to seek the help of the other animals.
He first arrived at the chicken’s pen and proclaimed, “There is a mouse trap in the house!”
The chicken raised his head and squawked, “I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it.”
The mouse then ran to the quiet sheep and told him, “There is a mouse trap in the house!”
The sheep sympathized but only said, “Mouse, I am very sorry, but there is nothing I can do except pray for you. Be assured you are in my best of prayers.”
The mouse then turned to the cow and said, “There is a mouse trap in the house!” The cow replied, “Sorry mouse, but it’s no skin off my nose.”
So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer’s mousetrap alone.
That night there was a sound heard throughout the entire house, like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey.
The farmer’s wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught. The snake then bit the farmer’s wife with its big white fangs.
The farmer rushed his wife to the hospital, and the doctor told her to get a lot of rest.
She returned home with a very bad fever. Now everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup’s main ingredient.
But the wife’s sickness persisted, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer slaughtered the sheep.
The farmer’s wife did not get well and soon passed away. So many people came for her funeral; the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them.
The mouse, too small to do anything, looked up from his little home within the walls in great sadness.
So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it doesn’t concern you, remember — when one of us is threatened, we are all at risk.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We are all involved in this journey called life. We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another to do good and forbid evil.

If we as Malaysians living in this country think that what is happening to our brothers and sisters over there in Permatang Pauh does not affect or concern us, we’re dead wrong.

They are our Malaysian brothers and sisters and it is our duty to help them, may it be in the smallest or biggest of deeds.

If we can't help them physically or financially, at least help inform others about their political predicament through our blogs and websites.

They need to be alerted to all the tricks and charades being orchestrated by the giant BN Election Machinery as the posting before this?

On another note, as fellow Malaysians, we must remember to not fall prey to the same old racist propaganda and allow ourselves to be kept divided right up to this day by fearing this and that which is conjured up by the ones who love to divide and rule over us as they bloody well please?

It is true that we are all different. Different in our skincolor , different in our physical appearances, faith and customs.

No one can deny that. All these talk of a Bangsa Malaysia is just political hogwash. Ear candy.

A Malay will remain being a Malay and so will an Indian Muslim, Chinese, Tamil, Sikh, etcetera remain whatever ethnicity one is born as?

It makes no difference according to my outlook for if a person is good, it doesn't matter as to who or what he or she is?

On the other hand, if a person is evil, it makes no difference if he or she is one's blood relative, sibling or offspring?

As Malaysians who are now living in different times and social situations unlike the times of our parents, grandparents and great grandparents, it is important that current day Malaysians learn to live in peace and harmony with each other and learn from the good and bad times of our country's historical past?

The way some folks go about today, still spewing racist epithets as they please especially during the recent protests, greatly saddened my heart.

We were there for the reason of our faith but some persons turned that into a racist agenda!

That saddened me and made me feel sorry that such mindsets still thrive amongst folks who are young and ought to know better?

My conclusion is that these racist mindsets are the fruits of the BN's continuing racial agenda.

Yes! As long as the BN is made up of political parties which are set up along differing racial lines, Malaysia will not really be able to move forward in the real sense as a nation.

Despite all the wonderful gimmicky tourism ads which depict our country as 'Malaysia Truly Asia', we will still be separated by our different ethnicity and category.

Bumiputera is a Sanskrit word meaning 'son of the earth'.

Pray tell me as to where were Non Malays living here in Malaysia born?

Outer space?

Surely not, right?

We are Malaysians, each and everyone of us. Sure, we differ in terms of ethnicity and religious creed but we ought to be able to live in peace and harmony with each other just as Malayans lived before?

As a Muslim Caller to Islam, I always emphasise on our same origins as the Children of our Father, the Prophet Adam Alaihis Salam and of our Mother Saiyidatina Hawwa Radhiallahu Anha.

Circumstances cause us to be born as Muslims and others to be born as Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, etc.

As a Caller to Islam, I study my faith and our origins and have long came to learn that our Father, Prophet Adam Alaihis Salam was created by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala as a Mukmin, who believes in Allah.

Surely Almighty Allah who created Adam will not allow him to be a Disbeliever in Him?

That would defeat the purpose as to why Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala created Mankind through Adam Alaihis Salam and Hawwa Radhiallahu Anha to go and worship another?

Yet, I learn that Allah Azza Wa Jalla is Most Merciful, Most Gracious and allows Mankind to have the freedom of choice YET does not wash off His Hands on those who stray away from His Path!

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala still has that endless Oceans of Mercy in Him to keep sending so many prophets and messengers to us Mankind through the ages.

124,000 of them starting from our Father Adam Alaihis Salam. They were called Nabi and 5 of them were Rasul.

You need to know the difference between the term Nabi and Rasul Allah. Nabi means Prophet whereas Rasul is the term for the Messengers of Allah.
  • There were 124,000 Nabi's @ Prophets of Allah, God Almighty sent to us Mankind through Time but there were only 25 amongst them who were mentioned by name in the Qur'an with 5 of them being the major Messengers of Allah.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Let's learn more about what is common between us and not dwell on what separates us?

These challenging times which may be the turning point for our nation's future is not a period where we can afford to say that just because the by election that is going to take place on August the 26th, 2008 does not really involve those of us who are living elsewhere than Permatang Pauh, we can just ignore the implications that might be coming from the results of this election involving Anwar Ibrahim, Ariff Shah and Hanafi Mamat?

Just like the story of the little mouse and the animals that refused to bother about it's concerns over the farmer's buying of a mouse trap, the consequences of disregarding the P44 Permatang Pauh by election, will be disastrous for us as a people!

Keep tabs on what's taking place in the nation and learn to look at both sides of the coin so to speak before coming to any conclusions as far as the nation's current political drama is concerned?

May rationality and commonsense prevail over there in Permatang Pauh and throughout our beloved nation as we face these challenging times together as one people, Malaysians!

Ameen!
