Najib Tun Razak ~ Does he still stand a chance of being the PM in the next GE?

Sometimes, the success or failure of a political leader doesn't just depend on his personal achievements or strength of character. It also concerns the way those closest to him behave or carry about their lives which in one way or another reflects back on him?

Many Malaysians do not like the idea of the said presence of a 'backseat driver' directing the way as in the case concerning the leadership of the incumbent Barisan Nasional Chairman, Dato Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak?

It may be true or just political hearsay but from my own personal viewpoint, I'd rather like to see the current Malaysian Prime Minister be free from such unnecessary political baggage as in all the innuendos that relates to his spouse being the said liability to his political journey's success or demise as this nation's topmost government leader?

Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has long been the favorite subject of anti BN political cartoonist Zunar where he often rightfully lambasts her heavy presence at any event or occasion where the PM attends!
I sensed this overbearing presence of Rosmah Mansor personally when I attended a dinner hosted by YBK at the Sime Darby Convention Center recently. She was sort of holding center stage and the way she was being pandered to by both her PM husband and the YBK hosts was very evident.

That's not good for the political health of Najib Tun Razak. All notable political figures of the world succeeded in their careers when their wives didn't upstage them in the presence of the media.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad ruled successfully for 22 years because his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah knew best not to steal his limelight so to speak. So did Singapore's Mentor Minister Lee Kuan Yew's wife all throughout his exemplary political career. None of our nation's former premiers wives sought glam and glamor as what the current PM's wife is doing?

Hence, I feel that Najib's chances of retaining his position as the BN's Chairman in the 13th General Election can be quite slim if Rosmah Mansor continues to upstage him in the political scene despite her not being in politics herself!

Najib has also sort of shot himself in the foot today by siding with DAP's 'cross my dead body' spouting Chairman Maharaj Karpal Ram Singh Jai Ho with regard to being against the idea of setting up an Islamic State here in Malaysia.

Looks like Muslims in Malaysia are practically caught between the proverbial 'Devil and the Deep Blue Sea' as far as dreaming of an Islamic nation set up here in obviously secularly inclined Malaysia?

The BN's Chairman has openly stated that he is with Karpal on this and PAS's Nik Aziz doesn't seem as firm as he used to be with implementing the Syariah Code over there in the Sultanate of Kelantan where he has been the Chief Minister for over 20 years now.

PKR's De Facto Chief has also openly stated that there is no agenda in his party to uphold Allah's Hudud Laws if he gets to be the next PM.

So, where does that leave us all?

To our own choices of at least getting to live as Muslims within our households and to watch over our immediate loved ones in the family.

O Muslims of Malaysia! This is what we get when we adopt a wait and see attitude as far as deciding as to who shall lead us into the Yaum al Akhirat?

Exactly as prophesied by Rasul Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam :

Abu Musa Ash`ari Radhiallahu Anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah, Rasulullah Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam said, " Qiyamah will come....

2. `When untrustworthy people will be regarded as trustworthy and the trustworthy will be regarded as untrustworthy.

This is the reason why we who are Muslims in this country ought to choose only true Muslims to lead us in government and not to fall victims to all these shysters who don 'Islamic looking garb' and put up a show of being the righteous and pious when in reality they are amongst those who are termed as 'dayooth' for not having it in them to even order their wife to cover their modesty and yet have the gall to be our so called leaders?

I strongly look forward to the resurrection of the Islamic Khilafah in order to be rid of these sellouts of Islam in the near future.

Salam,
I pray to Allah that Najib would not be the next PM come the next GE. for it seems to me that he have no Malay and Islamic Soul in his heart. we have been toyed with each and everyday.I miss the time when Mahathir was in power. the very least, he knows what he is doing back then

True, his wife is overbearing, overarching, overreaching..in fact, she is over in everything, and frankly speaking, Najib is long overdue in putting his wife in her RIGHTFUL place..she still does not know where she RIGHTFULLY belongs.

The rakyat talk about this all the time, the rakyat do not hate Najib's wife, but they CERTAINLY hate the way she carries herself around. Who the hell does she think she is? An elected representative? Hell, no! She is just some wife to some Prime Minister.

I remember her giving an official Hari Raya Aidilfitri Speech (Perutusan Hari Raya Aidilfitri)during her first Hari Raya as a PM's wife. This was something that no wife of any PM of Malaysia had done before, not even Dr Mahathir's wife had done that. Who did she think she was when she gave that speech to the nation on national TV? Did we ask her to?

I am never fond of Najib as a PM but fate has it that Malaysia must have him as a PM. Unfortunately for me, I am even less fond of the Opposition, certainly they are more despicable than Najib. Najib meanwhile is just about as soft and indecisive as Abdullah Badawi and unable to forcefully defend Malay and Muslim interests via-a-vis increasingly unconstitutional demands from Non-Malays and Liberal Malays for the removal of constitutionally entrenched Malay/Bumiputra rights and privileges..

@Hang Tuah: I certainly do not miss Dr Mahathir as a PM and I certainly don't want him back as PM despite my unhappiness with Najib and Pak Lah before him.

Mahathir's era too was fraught with many controversies. Many of his actions were as questionable then as those of Najib's today. Some (not all) of the seeds of many of today's problems facing Malaysia's Malays and Muslim were planted actually during Mahathir's era, if we care to examine very closely..

But Mahathir too had contributed vastly to Malaysia's and Malays' well-being which we must admit and appreciate. And without saying it, he seems repentant for the mistakes he could have made in the past. He is now lending his valuable voice in defending the rights, privileges and dignity of the Malays and Muslim which PAS, PKR and certain quarters of UMNO have abandoned. I love Dr Mahathir more in his role now than before

But Every PM has his fair share of strengths and weaknesses, Mahathir is no exception. Mahahtir has come and gone. Let that be.
