Hudud & Its Implications On Non-Muslim In Malaysia - MCA Forum 04/12/2011

Event: Hudud & Its Implications On Non-Muslim In Malaysia
Location: Wisma MCA
Date: 04/12/2011 - 9:00
Organised by: Institute of Strategic Analysis and Policy Research (INSAP)
Moderator: Mr. Lim Chee Wee, President of the Malaysian Bar Council

Panelists:
1. Professor Dr Chandra Muzaffar
President, International Movement for a Just World (JUST)

2. Mr. Edmund Bon
Lawyer and Campaigner, Malaysian Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights (MCCHR)

3. Ustaz Hj Mohd Kamal Saidin
Religious Adviser to Menteri Besar of Terengganu

4. Ustaz Fathul Bari Mat Jahaya
Chairman, Jawatankuasa Kerja Ulama Muda UMNO (ILMU)

What is Hudud? Can Hudud be implemented without any amendments to the current laws including the Federal Constitution? If Hudud is implemented, how will this affect the secular status of the country as enshrined under the Federal Constitution and the foundation of the country with its ethnic, religio-cultural diversity?

What are the legal implications of Hudud on non-Muslims in Malaysia? If a case involves both Muslims and non-Muslims, who will decide if the case is tried under Hudud or Penal Code? If the case is tried under Hudud and involves both Muslims and non-Muslims, what are the legal rights of non-Muslims? Can non-Muslims, including women, who are witnesses to a crime involving both Muslim and non-Muslim parties testify in Syariah court? In the case where non-Muslims are perpetrators, will they be subjected to the same punishment under Hudud?

(Left to Right) Dato Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Ustaz Fathul Bari Mat Jahaya, Edmund Bon, Lim Chee Wee,  Ustaz Mohd Kamal Saidin, Prof Dr Chandra Muzaffar, MCA president Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek during a hudud forum organised by Institute of Strategies Analysis and Policy Research (Insap) at Wisma MCA
Fellow Malaysians,

This is the full recording of the recently concluded Forum on Hudud which was organized by the Malaysian Chinese Association at their MCA headquarters at Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, the 4th of December, 2011.

From my observation of the forum and the way the panelists raised their views and the general very high interest of the participants/audience , I can say that all Malaysians ought to take part in such forums to discuss the need for all of us to truly understand what God Almighty through His Shariah Laws prescribes for us, both Muslims and Kaffirs?
Edmond Bon
Malaysian Bar Council President
Lim Chee Wee
The Malaysian Bar Council clearly has no idea as to the real provisions of the Islamic Syaria about the Hudud Laws which are just one out of many other branches of the Syaria and its representatives in the forum clearly exposed their ignorance about the gist of the matter which they vehemently oppose!

Their arguments and opposing views against Hudud does not show their true understandings of what they are opposing and merely shows their fears against God's Laws based upon their personal misconclusions about the subject.

They need to be properly briefed and updated about the true principles of Islamic Syaria Laws in order for them to be able to know as to what is the truth regarding its provisions?

Ustaz Fathul Bari didn't have adequate time to explain to the audience in full about what Islamic Syaria laws are all about?

He is quite good in his field but needs more time to be able to share and explain about Hudud with the Muslims and Non Muslims or Kaffirs of Malaysia.

Give him more speaking time, please.

Ustaz Kamal Saidin only did what he does best ~ explain UMNO's side against the PAS hudud initiative which obviously is flawed and unjust!

Allah's Justice is for all and His Punishments do not discriminate between the Muslim or the Kaffir.

It would be grossly unfair to just punish the Muslim criminals and let the Kaffir ones go scot free!

Justice for all. That's what Hudud, Taqzir and Qisas is all about?

Chandra Muzaffar needs to re-examine his aqeedah as far as stating that Hudud Laws will be committing injustice against us mankind!

Each of us no matter who or what we are or claim to be need protection from crime and we all want safety for ourselves and our loved ones, our properties and our general sense of freedom and need to be able to live in peace and harmony, safe from harm from anyone person, group or party.

There was a Chinese lady during the Q&A session who openly called for the implementation of Hudud in this country because she herself was a victim of theft and she lamented the fact that all that she worked so hard for was robbed from her and she wanted the criminals be punished under the hudud! Here is someone who obviously appreciates God's Hudud Laws!

Her laments were however not responded to well by the obviously opposing crowd but the Bar Council President chairing the forum asked that she be given her right to speak her mind!

This clearly shows that those who have been wronged in our nation do want retribution but ignorance and misunderstanding about what the Hudud Laws are all about contributes to this climate of fear with regard to a code of laws that in actuality are from God Almighty Himself in order to take care and provide safety and justice to all mankind!

I am sure that if I am to go ask each victim of injustice in Malaysia as to what they think of the proposal to implement the Hudud Laws here in Malaysia and give them their right of justice and teach the violaters a lesson that they really deserve, they will be all for it?

I call upon the Islamic Development Department @ JAKIM to take charge and hold such seminars on a larger scale and provide ample time to each speaker or panelist to present their case so that we can all understand what Islamic Laws provide for each of us in as just a manner as possible.

I will be contacting JAKIM soon about this.

Let's discuss about Hudud for the good of this country!
