I read with sadness another case of the death of a young Muslim female as a direct cause of an irresponsible female doctor in Egypt who overdosed her patient with anesthesia whilst trying to carry out a circumcision of the young girl's genitalia.
Islam does not make it compulsory for a Muslim female to undergo such a circumcision.
It is more of a social custom of some ethnicities especially those in the African and Middle East nations and tribes that still carry out such destructive and harmful violations upon their young women in the name of religion whereas there is nothing in the faith that makes it compulsory to circumcise the females.
The ruling is only for males. Even then when such a circumcision might be dangerous to the person, the ruling is waived for Islam does not constitute endangering anyone's life just to fulfill a principle of its teachings.
In the Holy Qur'an Surah Al-Imran Verse 191 :
" Those who remember Allah standing and sitting and lying on their sides and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: Our Lord! Thou hast not created (all) these in vain! Glory be to Thee; save us then from the chastisement of the fire! "
I understand the notion of some cultures to desensitize the female genitalia especially at the area where arousal is most concentrated but to go and destroy something that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala Himself created for the pleasure and enjoyment of a woman in lawful copulation with her husband is tantamount to denying His Blessings to the progeny of our Mother Saiyidatina Hawwa Radhiallahu Anha.
The practice of mutilating the female genitalia is forbidden in Islam. Those who do so commit a grievous sin and harm the person upon whom they carry out such an abominable crime! May this horrible crime be stopped and removed from all of mankind.
Self regulation and adherence to the rules of Islam is much better and society accord to the womenfolk their rights to live unmolested and given their rightful honorable position as the mothers of mankind.
We need to study the Last Testament of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala @ The Holy Qur'an and see how Allah SWT teaches us to live as respectable human beings amongst society and to take care of ourselves from harm and evil practices that brought many of those who lived before us to their ruin.
The prohibition goes first to the 'believing men' to lower their eyes from looking at the exposed aurat of women who are not forbidden to them and to guard their own sense of modesty (from the navel to the knee) and then to believing women to lower their eyes and not to look at men who are not forbidden to them when their area of modesty is exposed to them. The believing women are enjoined to cover their adornments (bosom) with clothing over their heads and not to attract attention to themselves by wearing (exposing attire) or to rattle their ornaments in order to seek men's attention.
Surah An Noor Verse 30-31.
I will follow up on this subject after this. To be continued. Have a wedding to attend. Take care.
