Malaysian Apostates in Limbo - Whose Fault?

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

I refer to the sorry undetermined state of affairs regarding those in our midst who are deemed and known to be apostates from Islam but are sort of being in a state of limbo due to the unclear and undefined legal quandary they are put in because this nation is ruled by two sets of rules and both not exactly be practiced to the letter!

On one hand, we see this country said to be ruled according to the Federal Constitution and said to be fair to all its citizens.

On the other hand, we hear that there exists a Syariah system here which I as a Muslim and am sure that there are millions of my fellow Muslims who know that it is a sham and not exactly what we understand to be the Syariah Laws of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala as laid out in the Holy Al-Qur'an Al Kareem, the Last Testament of Allah Azza Wa Jalla and according to the Hadiths and Sunnah left to us Muslims by Allah's Greatest and Last Messenger to All Mankind, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam, Muhammad ibni Abdullah, Al Mustafa, Rahmatulill Alameen.

This sorry situation therefore sees these unfortunates who are labelled as Muslims yet live a life devoid of any resemblances to that of a Mukmin or Mukminat as spelled out clearly in the Principles of Iman and Islam.

Their aqeedah is clearly wrong and they are clearly not Muslims in the true sense but here they are living in limbo, not here nor there and suffering unnecessarily due to the stalemate we have here in this nation when Mankind chooses to IGNORE the Laws of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala and yet try to do one better than Him, our Lord and Creator by devising those of their own.

Who wrote or came up with the Federal Constitution of Malaysia? Is it Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala or just a Kaffir who was the Colonial British master of this nation back then?

Each nation stands on a clear principle of being either a Muslim nation in the true sense of it or be as what we have here, a befuddled state of neither secular or Islamic as spelled out in the Al-Qur'an Al Kareem.

The poor leashed Muftis of this land are caught between the 'devil and the deep blue sea'. So are the defanged Malay heads of their individual states who have been stripped of their rightful powers and authorities, reduced to being 'Constitutional Monarch's' when they are rotated on a 5 yearly term and installed as our Kings when they are denied in the real actual sense of ruling over us in the Name of Allah, Ar Rahman, Ar Raheem and as the responsible beings who will face Him when they depart from this Earthly realm of existence and return to being just another created ordinary being, and judged as per their Record of Deeds here in this Life.

The Executive who wields the absolute power and the will to impose and uphold change is also caught in a fix where he is like one who has a bone stuck in his throat. Can't spit nor swallow.

He makes the 'wrong decision' favoring the Muslims, all the Kaffirs will gang up on him and accuse him of betraying their 'trust'!

He goes ahead and kowtows to the Kaffirs, Fasiqs, Munafiqs and Liberals demands, he'll get screwed left, right and bashed black and blue by us Muslims who'll wage war against him and his supporters or backers.

Tch..tch..tch..tch...Very touchy, delicate, fragile, unfavorable position to be when one is beholden to so many.

This is the quagmire of Malaysian political mess and quandary that the powers that be face today due to being stuck in the quicksands of legal and religious issues that have bogged down so many including our country's apostates and those wannabe's, biding their time to see what comes up?

To me as a Muslim, I say that the fault of allowing this situation to come into being is our nation's founding fathers and those who were the Malay Sultans back then.

They lacked the foresight to set clearly the path for this nation when they allowed Islam be sidelined to be just an entity in name only without subscribing in total or adhering to the core of this faith, which is the Laws of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala and to have defined that each and every Muslim in this nation from back then in 1957 to eternity must be ruled according to what Islam entails to and that the Rule of Law concerning the affairs of the Malaysian Muslims must be in accordance to that of the Syariah of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, to the exact letter and interpretation of it. No beating about the bush or trying to come up with mankind's own version of it as we now have here in this country.

Non Muslims of Malaysia must be ruled according to the provisions of the Civil Law which they so clearly advocate and want imposed over them.

When we have certain groups here amongst the Muslims advocating the separation between Allah's Will and fighting for the 'freedom to apostate from Islam' , doesn't that clearly prove to all of us here that these are the Fasiqs and Munafiqs that Rasul Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam warned us his Ummah about a thousand four hundred over years ago?

Hence this sticky situation for folks like Azalina Jailani @ Lina Joy, Siti Fatimah@ Revathi, and so many others.

The Islamic Development Department @ JAKIM, and all the nation's State Islamic Councils failed to carry out proper Dakwah activities to the Muslim masses from day one and left it to the parents and individual Muslim organizations to do what they can with their limited resources and authority to see to it that the Ummah are brought up and nurtured as per Islamic principles.

What can individuals do except to try and help guide limited numbers amongst the ummah here when those big budgeted departments waste precious resources by idling away their time in their lush airconditioned offices and do their work as any other civil servant, punching in at 0800 hours and clocking out at 1700 to the dot?

The Muftis stay way above the reach of the ordinary Muslims and allow self imposed 'red tape' and 'official bureaucracy' upon themselves and their office from being reached by the ordinary Muslim who needs their help or guidance.

They think foolishly that it is enough that they appear before the jamaah once a week on the mimbars and forums that the ministries and departments set up for them to be as if celebrities , talking to the public as if they have done their part and fulfilled their duties towards the average Muslim citizen of this nation.

The way the Islamic Development Department and their state representatives go about their affairs, Islam comes across as a strict, 'holier than thou', devoid of love , care and compassion faith that drives its own folks like those apostates away and into the clutches of its enemies who go overboard in showering those apostates with support and love that is actually enshrined here in Islam.

Whose fault is it that persons like Lina Joy and Revathi opt out from the Mercy of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala and end up as Kaffirs?

I say that is is this nation's authorities in general and the individual parents and themselves who are to be blamed.

There is no excuse today for any Muslim to say that they didn't know about the tenets of Islam and the do's and don'ts of the only true faith that Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has revealed to us mankind in completion a thousand four hundred over years ago through Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam.

Information about Islam is so easily attainable and learned by anyone who wants it. Failure to go out and seek knowledge about this birthright of each and every human being is just asking for the calamity to fall upon their own selfs, both here on Earth and in the Hereafter.

As we speak, the situation for the apostates of Malaysia is in limbo in this 'Islam Hadhari' nation.

Will we see a way out for them yet? Wallahu 'alam bissawab.

It is for this very reason that I am putting together an E-Group to unite all Muslim Bloggers into an alliance.

Muslim Bloggers Alliance is the name and unity of all the jamaah's is my aim. Those who want to join me, please email me your particulars and blog url to

This is for all true Muslims. Those 'Muslims' in name only need not apply. Jazakallah khairan kathiraw.

Wabillahi Taufeek Wal Hidayah. Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Ta'ala Wabarakatuh.

Mr. Mahaguru,

I have great respect for you and your religion but there is one thing that I can't seem to shake off..

Firstly, through out your well-written article, you seem to articulate with a cynical tone about how non-Muslims wish to be ruled over by the federal constitution. Perhaps my implications are wrong and I'll leave it at that.

Secondly, you seem to state 'Whose fault is it for apostates'. But seriously, does this matter? If people which to apostasize themselves from a religion, that is their problem. Should our tax payer dollars (ringgit) be wasted in handling such silly court cases?
Perhaps Islam takes apostasizing seriously, but as you've mentioned, us Kaffirs will get our punishment when judgement day comes?

What are your thoughts?

Dear sir,

Thank you for your courteous comment and manner by which you put your questions to me.

Speaks well about your person. I pray that you remain so and become better as your days go by.

Regarding the matter of the government spending money on legal matters concerning apostasy, there is no way out from such expenditure because as the authorities, surely they are the ones who have to set up court, pay the judges, court staff, etc. in judging over such serious cases which can make or break the social order.

As Malaysian Muslims, the authority in charge are obligated to Allah the Almighty to govern over the affairs of their Muslim subjects.

If this was a Non Muslim nation, such matters would be handled differently, maybe in a Civil Court if a Muslim body overseeing the affairs concerning the apostate had filed a case against such a crime.

As it is, apostasy here in Malaysia concerns the Muslims and being a Muslim majority government, naturally the ones in power are obliged to judge over them, in court.

If we didn't have a government, then the ones overseeing such cases will be as in the days of old, where authority was with the Sultans, Raja's or Datuk Penghulu's.

You need to understand sir that in a Muslim nation, the ones in authority are held responsible over the affairs of their subjects.

Please read my latest post regarding Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's reported statement saying that he can't do anything about the apostasy cases and what he is duty bound according to the Hadith's of the Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam.

As for your last statement regarding the punishments for the Kaffirs @ Disbelievers in Allah, it is Allah Himself who has revealed the Holy Qur'an and its revelations about the consequences of not acknowledging Him, our Creator.

As a human being, we are gifted with the Faculty of Thought and Reasoning as to realize who we are, what we are created for and as to what we need to do as the chosen ones given responsibility to carry out our affairs here on Earth as Allah's Vicegerents and to live according to what He has revealed for us and by sending to us countless Prophets and Messengers to guide us to a better life here and in the hereafter.

He created us for a reason. To worship Him and to live as He commands us to.

He allows us the free will to learn about Him and those who choose not to believe in Him here, He promises to give them their just dues when they cease to live.

Therefore, in this times when information about Islam is so easily attainable and one has easy access to ask and learn about it, there is just no excuse to tell Him later that one does not know and that no one told him or her about it.

You decide how you wish to live your life.

It isn't the same for those born into Islam and yet they fail to study their faith or come to seek knowledge about it.

Those who embrace Islam out of their own free will , know about Allah and all the tenets and principles of the faith, yet then choose to apostate, will have to face the consequences of their deeds as laid out in the Qur'an and the authentic Hadiths of the Last Prophet of Allah the Almighty.

Religion is not a thing to be taken as a joke or a past time.

It concerns the core subject of acknowledging and submission to our Lord hence the seriousness of a subject such as Apostasy.

I am here to answer any other questions if you have about Islam.

Have a nice day and May the Mercy and Guidance of Allah be upon us all.
