Assalamualaikum Warahmatulillahi Ta'ala Wabarakatuh.
I refer to my fellow Blogger Nathaniel Tan's being held by the Royal Malaysian Police under charges of being guilty of committing a crime under the Official Secrets Act @ OSA of this country since Friday, the 13th of July, 2007.
He is reportedly being held for being in possession of documents or in control of a website that accuses the Deputy Minister of the Internal Security and Home Ministry of Malaysia, Dato' Johari Baharom of corruption!
It is a sad day for this nation now when we see folks like Brother Nathaniel Tan being incarcerated for the crimes of so many others and I for one think that our Royal Malaysian Police Force are capable of doing so much more better if only they pay heed to the Kalimah of 'ALLAH' and 'Muhammad' emblazoned atop their logo and crest.
This means that the Royal Malaysian Police Force intend to uphold the Justice in the Name of Allahu Ta'ala and Our Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam! Ameen.
Islam does not punish someone because of another's mistake or crime. I am positive that the PDRM who uphold the law will be gentlemen enough to see to it that the justice situation in Malaysia is not alike the Dark ages anymore where innocents perished because powers that be who were corrupt and evil simply ordered the uniformed personnel around.
I ask 'Is Nathaniel Tan guilty of setting up that website that accuses Dato' Johari Baharom of corruption or is he a sacrificial 'test the waters' victim of the powers that be to gauge the reactions and responses of the Malaysian socio-political-religious bloggers?'
To most of us, concerned Malaysians citizens and registered voters, Blogger Nathaniel Tan seems to be a hapless victim caught in a power play between the Deputy Minister of Internal Security and Home Affairs of Malaysia and the Royal Malaysian Police top brass!
If it is true that Nathaniel Tan is guilty of libel against the Malaysian Internal Security and Home Deputy Minister, then as expected, he can be held liable for his 'crime'.
If it is otherwise, then please for the sake of the peace and harmonious future of this nation, free Brother Nathaniel from further imprisonment. Go after real criminals, not imagined ones!
The general Malaysian public must also know that those in the Special Branch are acting under orders. They will not have come after Nathaniel if they didn't receive the 'go ahead' from a higher authority. Who is that authority? Wallahu Alam Bissawab. Only Allah Knows!
Whether it is 'selective prosecution' or 'rightful arrest' beats me and is something that has intrigued me and many other Malaysians today as I have read worse articles, reports, statements and comments in Malaysia-Today.net against practically every power that be in this land?
How come those 'shit spewers' get no action taken against them or as challenged by the blog owner himself, Raja Petra Kamaruddin so that the justice system can dissect the information rightfully in court and see who's right and who's wrong?
Is Raja Petra too big a fish for the boys to haul in? Most of us Malaysians wonder?
Why does the Inspector General of the Royal Malaysian Police who has been accused point blank in Malaysia-Today.net so reluctant to seek legal redress against the nation's # 1 Alternative News Portal? Is he so forgiving? What gives?
Why only Nathaniel Tan and not those Malaysia Today commentors who so blatantly accuse and lambast our nation's # 1 Police Officer of corrupt practices? This is what many of us wonder?
I am sure that the Cyber Crimes Division of our learned Special Branch of the Royal Malaysian Police Force at Bukit Aman are well equipped and professional enough to trace the IP address of the libelous website and get to the root address of whoever set up the 'offending' website.
No one can assume to be a 100% untraceable in the cyber world . There are hundreds of thousands of expert and capable cyber hackers and IT experts in the world who would be able to put 2 and 2 together and trace anyone to whatever they have posted or published online.
Surely, our Cyber Crimes Division experts have such brains amongst them and do not need a person like Nathaniel Tan to teach them things they already are well aware of ?
I have already blogged about responsible blogging way back then and do still exercise comment moderation in my blogs which has earned me the wrath of many cyber trolls and commentors who love to leave nonsense and hate comments without the decency to stand by their sins!
Here is an excerpt of what I posted back on Sunday, 30th of July, 2006 :
We can't expect to just say anything online and not get our dues smashing back at us if we wrote wrong or libeled anyone without due cause and rightful feedback or expressing our opinions without something concrete and just to back us up!
Well, that is all history now and we know that there are blogs out there which need to be monitored by whoever is responsible towards maintaining National Security and all that!
My principle is that we bloggers need to be responsible in standing behind what we say or share!
We are liable to be sued, taken action against and held responsible for any consequences arising from what we publish!
Any postings we publish must be based upon facts or reliable sources failing which then we must have the balls to face any reaction from any party out there no matter how many 'disclaimers' we put upfront in our respective blogs!
Disclaimers are just the cowardly way out ! I do not believe in that!
We see disclaimers in every bloody thing out there! That's chickenshit in practice!
I have always checked and double checked my arguments and opinions by the Al Qur'an and authentic hadiths of Rasulullah Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam before I click that 'Publish Post' button!
If I screw up and realize my mistake, I am not one who will shy away from owning up to my slip up and apologize to the offended party!
So, please be just and do what's right for Brother Nathaniel. I am sure that our PDRM Boleh!
May Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala guide all our PDRM SB officers at Bukit Aman to be just, transparent and fair to Nat and all Malaysian Bloggers to be responsible when blogging and do the right thing by exercising caution before saying anything that is baseless and criminal for there is a saying that ' Thou shall reap what thou sows!' Ameen Ya Allah Ya Adil!
Wabillahi Taufeek Wal Hidayah. Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
