Maksiat - The dangers of ignoring it by the Ummah!

Here's something I posted in my other website.

Hope you find it beneficial in your reading about matters that do concern all of us here in Malaysia and the rest of the world.

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

In today’s world, the instance of Maksiat being allowed to rampage through the life’s of the Ummah is like a gradual insensitivity building up in the hearts and minds of the Muslims through the lack of countering the scourge of sin, being committed publicly by the masses.

I prefer to address the Malaysian context of this malady infesting the Malaysian Muslims who are made up of mostly the Malay majority.

Malaysian Muslims today are at the worst stage of apathy especially towards the committing of sin either publicly or in private by their fellow ignorant Muslims.

Today’s hedonistic tendencies culminate in a growing social and moral breakdown from the lowest levels of Malaysian society right up to the aristocrats of the social ladder.

Maksiat is thriving under the patronage of the well to do amongst the wealthy titled aristocrats Muslims who flaunt their adherence to the ways of the Kaffirs more than what true respectable Muslims ought to be.

Allah’s Commandments in the Holy Qur’an al Kareem as to the ‘Believing Men and Women’ on how to be when in the company of others is simply ignored and disregarded when they mingle shamelessly with others who aren’t bothered about Islamic Tenets and Principles of faith ; what more of Allah’s Codes of Modesty and Social Decorum?

The Keepers of the Islamic Faith here in Malaysia are the respective Malay Sultans of the remaining Malay States of Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Johor.

Penang, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak are not under any of the Sultan’s rule save for the authority of the Yang di Pertuan Agong, elected from amongst the existing 9 Malay Sultanates and rotated every 5 years.

The Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Labuan are under authority of the Federal Government which in this case is the authority of the Prime Minister.

All these separation of powers and the removal of the Malay Sultan’s immunity from legal prosecutions have resulted in the gradual loss of royal supremacy and in turn gives rise to a lack of respect and relevance to their Majesties in matters concerning the upholding and preservation of the integrity of Islamic governance by their Highnesses, further compounded by the establishment of various Departments and agencies which are supposed to oversee and handle all matters concerning the Muslims and of Islam, here in this country.

The end result is a network of ineffective administration of all Islamic matters because authority is spread too widely and overlapping of jurisdiction by this department and that, resulting in each official passing the buck to another when it comes to dealing with the social ills plaguing the Ummah.

Maksiat thus thrives healthily, growing from strength to strength throughout the nation and permeating the very institutions of society right up to the very top, even to the palaces of the nation’s Sultanates.

Islam is not a fad, its not a social custom, to be practiced as pleased or sidelined when felt so!

When Islam is reduced to being given just ‘lip service’ and pretensions of being practiced by a government that comes up with an innovative concept of what Islam should be , to suit the tastes and wants of present day Muslims, it thus becomes an innovation, a Bida’ah from what has already been revealed in its perfection by Almighty Allah and delivered in total by His Greatest and Final Messenger to all Mankind, our Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam.

Today, our Malaysian Muslim Ummah are at the lowest ebb of social decay and moral breakdown due to a resurgence of Jahilliyyah practices amongst the cream of the crop so to speak and permeating the grassroots of the Malay Muslim society.

When have the 'Keepers of the Faith' done anything to correct this rot?

When have the Mufti’s of the nation ever came down into the Malay grassroots and prohibited such social ills and led them out of this predicament?

What have the numerous Islamic Development Departments and authorities done to nip this social malady in the bud or carried out true to form , Dakwah al Islamiyah to the ever growing ignorant Malay Muslim masses?

Does it suffice to hold a ‘once in a blue moon’ Qur’an Recital Competition to stop the slide into the abyss of social maksiat, spreading throughout the nation?

Is it enough to showcase the Mufti’s of this nation in an early morning TV program, just talking about this and that about Islam but they do not practice what they preach in real life , right in the midst of the Muslim Ummah?

Isn’t it a parody to have the Kalimah of Allah and Muhammad in the crest of our Royal Malaysian Police Force but deny them the authority to carry out ‘Amal Ma’aruf Nahi Mungkar’ in the true sense of the word?

I have a personal experience of having a Malay policeman back in Tanjong Tokong, Penang tell me that he doesn’t have the authority to go stop a couple (an Indian male with a Malay female) fornicating openly at the beach behind the Chinese Swimming Club upon whom I stumbled upon when I went there to fish, many years back!

When I asked him as to who has the authority then, he said’ Telefon lah Pejabat Ugama! Depa yang ada kuasa!’

I couldn’t help but ask him as to why the Police logo needs to have the ‘Allah and Muhammad’ letterings atop the crest?

He said, ‘Entah lah encik!’

Such is the situation plaguing the Malaysian Muslims.

I returned to the beach and chased away the couple who fled upon seeing me so bloody pissed off!!!

It is situations such as these that makes many people get out of control and want to take the law into their own hands! Can we blame them?

I just don’t know what else is in store for the Malaysian Muslims under this ‘Islam Hadhari’ government of Malaysia, coming to be?

Will the Muslims of Malaysia come to their senses and return to the true Islamic Way of Life or are they going to suffer as a consequence of all this maksiat taking place in this nation as a result of the lack of willpower of the authorities to practice proper Islamic governance?

Wallahu ‘Alam Bissawab!

Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in God. If only the People of the Book had faith, it were best for them: among them are some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors. (Ali Imran:110)

Enjoining what is right + forbidding what is wrong + believing in God = best of peoples. We certainly lacking forbidding what is wrong.

Absolutely right there bro. That's why we need to unite and come together as one union of Muslims brave and courageous enough to do what's right and forbid the wrongs spreading all over our nation.

The Muslim Bloggers Alliance will Insya Allah do what we need to by carrying out Dakwah bil Hal activities together with the relevant Muslim authorities, Insya Allah.

This is the reason why we Muslims have to stop maksiat that takes place before us as commanded by Rasul SAW.

"Whomsoever amongst you (the Muslim Ummah) sees an injustice (maksiat) take place before you, then stop it with your hands (power , authority or citizen's arrest, willpower); if you aren't capable of doing that (actual prohibition) then speak out against it (actual speech , warning, castigation, advice, writing, etc) and if aren't even up to that, to hate it ( the sin) in your hearts. Surely, hating it in your heart is the sign of those who are weakest in their Iman."

Sadaqa Rasulullahi Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam.

We must be proactive in enjoining the good and forbidding evil.
