Samy Vellu gets bamboozled by Datuk Shahrir Samad!
Collapsed ceilings made the headlines recently in schools, courthouses and administrative buildings in Putrajaya, supposedly the latest and most up to date buildings in our nation.
Once in a while we get to see true representation of the people's frustrations and grievances against the shoddy handling of this nation's infrastructure by the Minister of Works!
At last, through a Member of Parliament, the people get their wish to strike out against the untouchable longest entrenched Malaysian Cabinet Minister by his fellow BN politician who is known to speak his mind and stay his course!
Datuk Shahrir Samad, who is the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee Chairman pulls no punches when he hit out at Samy Vellu in this report from the New Straits Times online!
The MRR2 highway is one clear example of how mismanagement and lousy workmanship caused it to be cited as one major failure of the Ministry of Works to ensure that the safety of the Malaysian motorists in using the highway is ensured by seeing to it that the highway is built using the best quality materials and adhering to the highest standards in construction for the amount of money that has been spent building and is now being spent repairing it!
This nation's infrastructure has been in the news for the wrong reasons lately due to the recurring problems and mishaps which the minister concerned almost always passes the buck and lays the blame on God!
'What can I do?' ...a familiar excuse we seem to hear very often now from even the Prime Minister himself and emulated so earnestly by his cabinet whom we all by now know to be exactly a classic example of 'follow the leader' herd mentality!
We are all in danger of experiencing a disaster just like the recently collapsed bridge in Minneapolis, USA.
You all know how the contractors short change the government in using low quality materials and cheat on the cement-sand ratio in their premix.
Wear and tear will just bring the whole infrastructures coming down on us just as we have been constantly seeing take place even in the nation's new administrative capital city of Putrajaya!
The irony of it all! During the British Colonial rule, they had strict supervision and rigid adherence to the building rules and didn't shortchange the government even back then!
The British used high top quality materials to build their mansions using the Indian coolies and shipped from England wrought iron railings and Italian marble in most of their historical buildings such as the Kapitan Keling Mosque in Penang.
Even mere plaster and mortar which were used to build the government buildings in Penang, Ipoh, KL and Melaka stand proud today through the centuries.
The Dutch built the Stadhuys using high quality materials that to this day stand firm and solid putting to shame the 'lou yar' buildings which the Ministry of Works have to show using their shoddy contractors today!
Datuk Shahrir Samad is just like Dato' Kayveas, who speaks without fear or favor!
From amongst the useless ones prancing about spewing excuses, you two at least have the balls to speak up against injustice, even if it means making you unpopular amongst your peers!
Mahaguru58 'tabik spring' kepada Datuk berdua!
