New Malaysian Information Minister Acknowledges Bloggers!

Well this is a good sign that the BN has finally seen that it's better to embrace the Malaysian Bloggers instead of engaging in a psychological and information warfare with us!

Newly appointed Malaysian Minister of Information Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek when asked about Bloggers acknowledges us as a source of information and talks about wanting to sit and discuss with us as to how to improve our nation?

Such a stand is commendable and if the Minister is sincere and serious in wanting to engage with us Malaysian Bloggers, I am sure that he will find us to be responsible Malaysian citizens who are just watching out for the good of the nation and to ensure that the elected governments of the day whether they are from the BN or the BR practice what they preach and deliver to us what they have promised!

What say you O fellow Malaysian Bloggers?

Is this guy better than Zam Zam Ala Kazam or is it the case of the 'new broom sweeps clean' syndrome?

I knew next to nothing about the guy prior to his appointment, so in my books he's gotten off on the right foot with this statemet. We'll see how things go as his tenure progresses.

Responsible bloggers certainly have an important role to play
When given full freedom at all time to have their own objective say
For afterall they mainly target nasty dragons to slay
Since whatever being expressed is another way to pray

That's a very welcome development regarding the incoming Information Minister.

As you are a supporter of Barisan Rakyat who also happens to be a Malaysian of Indian Muslim descent, I was wondering what your thoughts were on this piece by RPK: http://www.malaysia-today.net/2008/content/view/4603/84/

This all came as news to me and I certainly don't agree with how a single community has been singled out for criticism.

Given your links to this community (though perhaps not necessarily in Penang) I thought you may have further thoughts/information on the subject of this piece.

Aw, c'mon!! You don't really believe this guy, do you? Sit and talk with bloggers over tea and cakes? Talk about what? How to improve the nation? You really think this guy wants to talk about that with bloggers?

Brother Umran,

Although your comment is off topic, I have chosen to publish it as it touches on something that is true and really needs addressing.

I have been thinking of writing about it and Insya Allah, I will in my next article.

The time has come for me to state to the world as to the matter of the Indian Muslims and I hope that my views on the matter will help the nation see the realities and actualities of the Indian Muslim positions in Malaysia and realize that actions by certain individuals from the Indian Muslim community here does not necessarily represent what the whole Mamak community stand for?

I will write that article in response to your questions here.

Wassalamualaikum.

Assalamualaikum Brother Idlan,

Let's hope that Ahmad Shabery Cheek will for once be the kind of Information Minister who does not end up like the previous two 'Propaganda Ministers' and really do a decent job of disseminating true and proper information.

Knowledge is power and the post of an Information Minister is a job that is akin to that of a Missionary or preacher.

The right calls will enlighten many and help to clear misconceptions whilst screw up performances like that of Zainudin Maidin and his predecessor Kadir Syeikh Fadzir will just incur the wrath of informed folks like us?

I for one am heaving a sigh of relief that Abdullah Badawi has stopped electing UMNO Indian Muslims for the job.

They are an embarrassment to folks like me for the way they shamelessly distorted the truth and prostituted justice just for the sake of currying favor with Paklalalalala and the one before him, Mahathir Mohamad.

Let's hope that Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek has what it takes to redeem the besmeared and soiled reputation of RTM and steer it to being a media that can be trusted failing which we might just as well disregard RTM altogether as a useless, BN Propaganda Unit and totally untrustable news channel?

Assalamualaikum Brother Khairul,

Not that I do not know that Ahmad Shabery Cheek is a former Semangat 46 fellow and as such betrays his willingness to go about achieving his political goals using whatever it takes but I am a bloody optimist and not prone to denying anyone until they are proven to be useless opportunists and unworthy of support?

So, I am sort of just wishing the fellow well and hope that he will prove to be a better Info Minister than his predecessors?

After all, what choice do we have as common citizens?

We exercised our rights to vote and kicked the BN's ass in 5 states.

The reality that there are still many who foolishly continue to swallow the BN's BS is clearly evident in the results of the 12th Malaysian GE and the BN still call the shots as far as the Federal Government is concerned?

You and me can just voice out our grievances here and go with the flow.

I for one want to see if Ahmad Shabery Cheek is of a different breed than the two previous ass kissing Propaganda chaps of the BN?

Let's see what he does?

many tell me that the Indian Muslims in this country want to distance themselves from their Indian ancestry and assimilate into the Malay main stream for more benefits.

It seems even the Indian in the mamak restaurants nowadays pretend not to speak a word of Tamil and do not speak the language with their Tamil patrons.

More so if other Malay clients are around. Some have even gone to the extent of bleaching their skin to become more Malay.

I have a Chinese convert friend who goes jogging at mid noon just to darken his skin, so that he will be accepted as a Malay.........

Why would anyone want to dosown his own ancestry I wonder ? Better perks ?

Brother malayamuda,

Your concerns are just the same as what Brother Umran has raised and I will write an article addressing this matter soon.

Do pray for me that I will be able to do so soon, Insya Allah.

In the meantime, just go easy on the subject as it touches on sensitive issues and affecting our ties with our fellow Muslims concerned?

In the spirit of celebrating the Maulid of Rasul Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam, let's have a bit of consideration for the others amongst the Indian Muslim community of this nation who are exemplary citizens and have contributed much to the good of this country!

Do not generalize in criticizing those brutes who took to the streets of Georgetown due to being instigated by those in UMNO Penang who have vested interests and an open agenda of out championing the cause of the Malays of my home state!

I believe that you are capable of being rational in dealing with this matter.
