Belanga Restaurant at Mid Valley Megamall - Gr8 Place 2 Dine in!

Assalamualaikum dear brothers & sisters.

Recently, I had dinner with my spouse at this new Kelantanese restaurant called Belanga Cafe at the Concourse level of The Gardens attached to Mid Valley Megamall.

The address is LG 230B, The Gardens, Mid Valley City, Medan Syed Putra, 59200, Kuala Lumpur.

I had the Nasi Chok, a delicious rice porridge that is really quite nice and of a very good standard, complete with all kinds of stuff like fried anchovies, salted egg, shredded chicken, celery, fried onions, sesame seed oil, etc.

My missus had a bowl of delicious Curry Meehoon.

The friendly supervisor is Brother John Haris from Indonesia. Despite his Christian sounding name, the man is a Muslim. :)

Here's a short movie I made for you from the video clips I shot there during our visit. Worth a visit I say if you are looking for great Kelantanese food.

I hear that this restaurant used to be what was known as Kelantan Delights that used to operate at the Suria KLCC till they were pressured out of business there by the KLCC Management policies - exorbitantly rising rentals?

Its pretty hard to make a decent living nowadays, isn't it?

* Last but not least. The place has free WIFI; so those of you who have notebooks with wireless built in modems or usb dongle sticks can surf the internet for free whilst enjoying your meals at Belanga!

Good to know that Kelantan Delight is alive and kicking. HEard their stoy in TV3 when they were forced out of KLCC

It is always the case. High profile complexes such as KLCC tend to discriminate against the Muslim businesses by doing that.

Raise the rental till these local entrepreneurs just cant cope with doing business there and are forced to close.

Sindrom biasa orang kita!

Ampu yg asing dan meniru cara hidup barat tetapi mutu diri sendiri tetap berkarat!

Salam mahaguru, thanks for making me salivating. The porridge looks very good.

And love your last ayat "Ampu yg asing dan meniru cara hidup barat tetapi mutu diri sendiri tetap berkarat!"

Sesungguhnya ayat itu benar dan tiada yang tidak benar melainkan benar belaka!

Wa'alaikumsalam dear Intan.

I have no qualms about people here trying to be modern.

Hell! I myself am as trendy as trendy can be but it doesn't make e go color my black hair blond for that would be trying to change one's origins from being an Asian to a Caucasian.

It's haram for Muslims to dye one's hair but many ignorants amongst our Ummah today are prone to do that.

I mean, if they can carry themselves and sound 'British' or 'American' in trying to ape the Westerners, we can go along with their 'charade' but when their 'English' is pure 'Manglish', it just drives me nuts to hear such gibberish being spewed by these folks who imagine themselves to be among the 'aristocrats' of Malay'zia'...(get y drift?)

These lousy pretenders give English a bad name and they look damn stupid with bits of blond hair with a brown backside( not that I went 'skodeng' on them!

We can be as Malaysian as we are but please lay off the theatrics of trying to look and sound Western when one doesn't do a good job of being 'Eastern'!

That's what I meant by that phrase which you quoted me.

Back to Belanga, go try the Nasi Chok Porridge.

It's as good a porridge that you can get at the 5 star hotel's breakfast servings.
