Blog4FT ~ The Launch at Pavilion KL - postmortem.

Was at the launching ceremony of the Federal Territories initiated Blog4FT contest which was held at the Pavilion KL yesterday afternoon.

For all the hype and pomp associated with it, turned out to be a slight disappointment for me to see not a single true blue blogger be invited to speak at the podium.

I was actually hoping to see Ahiruddin Atan @ Rocky Bru be invited to say a few words in his capacity as one of this nation's most famous blogger but we were witnesses to another form of official protocol at work instead!

The presenter @ Rashid Salleh caused me and others to wince when he said, now let me continue in English, 'which is so much better' or something like that.

I wonder why the local born and bred in Malaysia speakers, presenters or hosts are prone to denigrate the national language every now and then at such public events and ceremonies?

What the hell is wrong with these people?

Are they ashamed to be Malaysians?

I stopped Rashid when he passed by me after the event and questioned him as to why he said so that it's better for him to continue in English?

He answered that it was part of the script prepared for him. Really?

I guess we ought to call the British to return and reign over us once again so that it would make life so much more easier for these folks.

Pretty hard my man, having to speak in Malay!

I recall Sharifah Amani uttering ' I sound stupid if I speak in Malay!' at one of the Malaysian Film Festival before!

Wow! That's thesis material, folks!

Go figure!

Ouch, betul la tu Mahaguru.

I was there also, and was surprised when Rashid Salleh said that as well.

Also you are quite right to say that a blogger should have been invited to speak. The organiser I asked said they thought speeches might bore people. But I guess it would be better than the sketch presented yesterday.

Anyway I thought the event was pretty good. The Minister looks relax enough, and you yourself look grand and scholarly.

I agree to what you brought about about using English in an official Malaysian Ministry of Federal Territory, I stress again "Malaysian"

Assalamualaikum dan Selamat Hari Raya Tan Sri Mat!

Thanks for gracing my humble space here with your presence. :)

It felt 'plastic' to be there at the launch!

No actual camaraderie from those who supposedly want us bloggers to embrace them and give support to what I feel as just another publicity seeking program!

Are we supposed to ignore the realities surrounding us in actual life here in the Federal Territories and beguile ourselves that all is well with KL?

I support the initiative by Raja Nong Chik as our Federal Territories Minister to bring about a better quality of life for us FT dwellers but feel that he has to really be in line with the people and not still have that firewall of officialdom separating himself and the ordinary citizens!

All the media photo op and propaganda falls flat when there is no sincerity in application!

I don't know about others but I felt no love that afternoon from those who are supposed to want to be with us bloggers.

Only fellow bloggers like RockyBru, Syed Akbar Ali, Desiderata, Akhramsyah Sanusi and a few others were really very warm and glad to see each other there.

Almost all of those sporting the black t shirts with the embroidered 'Blog4FT' slogan were non bloggers and those whom I asked about their blogs confessed to not having one!

Drama swasta sir!

As for my looking scholarly, I guess that comes with age and a sense of a perpetual student knowing a wee bit of dressing for the occasion! :p

I appreciate very much your support of this kampong man in the blogosphere.

Wish that you could have come and introduced yourself?

Would really love to know you in person!

Same goes for all others who were there but 'segan' to meet this 'Mamak yang terlampau!'

Apekebende nak malu?

Dah peringkat Atok Atok dah ni!

Once again I bemoan the missed chance to meet you dear self in person!

Please, do not shy away from coming up and introducing yourself if we should ever get to be in the same function or event!

Lots that I need to learn from learned bloggers like your dear self!

Insya Allah!

As for the way the organizers went about scripting the event, I guess that they are still colonized in their mindsets!

We need to break those shackled minds through our writings, don't you agree?

I have spoken to Rocky Bru about a special gathering of us bloggers to discuss our roles in nation building.

Insya Allah, we will be following up on this and hopefully we can all get to know each other better!

Wa'alaikumsalam Eskapisminda!

Sampai hati u buat gitu kat Uncle!

I would have loved to know you in person!

Kepala otak kita kan hampir sama gelombangnya?

Apa lah nak segan dengan orang tua macam uncle?

Lain kali buat selamba je dan datang perkenal diri!

Wa'alaikumsalam Emila!

Yeah! What a shame, eh?

Sons of the soil spitting on it for no bloody rhyme or reason except maybe to come across as 'sophisticated'?

I guess its hip to smear shit on one's birthright, nowadays?

Anyway, moving away from that sorry episode, I'd like to express my sincere admiration for your talents in illustrations!

You could perhaps get in touch with a publisher and have your work published and printed as postcards to promote the FT and our nation?

I seriously think you have a chance in winning in the contest, no matter what position!

Wa'alaikumsalam Ramli Disa!

Hahahaha...mana ada henchem?

Dah tua dah!

Gigi pun dah mula gugur...dok standby nak masuk alam kubur....:)

Apa apa pun, jazakallah di atas penghargaan tuan.

Begitulah saya bila di tempat awam.

Saya lebih selesa bergaul mesra dengan sesama manusia sementara saya masih bernyawa.

Dah meninggal karang, too late!

Tak ada guna berkempunan!

Mudah2an dapat kita ketemu lagi nanti?

Tengoklah jika ada gathering bloggers, kita meet up lagi ya/

Sementara itu, jaga Iman, amal dan kesihatan tuan.

Mudah2an dilindungi Allah selalu!

Selamat Hari Raya dan Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh!

Actually, Tuan Mahaguru, almost all the blackshirted team members (apart from the usherers who I didn't know personally) blog regularly, even those who claimed they didn't have a blog.

It's just that many people guard the privacy of their long-nurtured and guarded online persona, and don't want to simply disclose it to all and sundry. Remember the episode between A Voice and Sakmongkol? And the disclosure of Monsterball's identity? We didn't want that.

I was wearing a black shirt myself. I also said "I didn't have a blog" when you asked me what my blog was. And I have a few active ones. It's just that I don't know you well enough.

Thanks for updating me with that bro! incognito bloggers at large, eh?

No worries then tansrimat, to each their own.

I am an open book sir. My stand points are crystal clear.

I propose that we get to know each other more by exchanging more info in the future.

YM me.

Insya Allah!
