MCA Wanita Chief Chew Mei Fun ~ Hou Yeah! Well done Datin!

I applaud Wanita MCA Chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun for her principled resignation from all of her official posts as she swore to do if Dato Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek was elected to be the President of the Malaysian Chinese Association!

It is quite rare for Malaysian politicians in such high positions to let go of such well paying jobs or political positions and resign as a matter of principle, keeping to their words and sworn promises.

Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun hereby earns herself a place in the hallowed halls of our Malaysian Political Hall of Fame for practicing what she preaches and has sort of given the new MCA President a moral slap for refusing to fade into Malaysian political oblivion after being caught in a scandalous adulterous affair with a 'good friend'.

I quote her parting shot published in the Sun newspaper "If we accept without question, leaders who are not good role models, it will send a negative message to the people, especially children who look up to the leaders as role models, in that our party (MCA) accepts and condones such corruption (of values) notwithstanding our wholesome and respectable culture."

To me, such an action by Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun ought to spur the MCA party members to question their acceptance of a soiled leader who remained defiant and pressed on to eventually overtake and unseat Dato Seri Ong Tee Keat, the former MCA President just because the man refused to have any pacts with others and in actuality had not been found guilty of any wrongdoings or caught in corruption cases as many other so called leaders or scandals

Yet, sadly I don't think that most of the present day Chinese population of this nation care too much about the immorality that has come to plague their community or this nation for the matter?

If they can accept Chua Soi Lek as the MCA President despite his scandalous affair, what else is there to stop them accepting any other tarnished fellow out there as their leader?

Chew Mei Fun, all my best to you Madam.

You have proven yourself to be a class above the rest in the MCA.

It is good there are still principled politicians around. Her firm decision makes the rest of MCA (especially those that supported CSL) look like a bunch of amoral individuals. I wonder what to they tell their children about such behaviour?
Will she return in future if CSL is still President?

The Chinese as a whole will accept any leader who will get them what they want. That is why Anwar is acceptable as PM to the Chinese because he will give the Chinese everything and forget the Malays!

Salam Tuan,

I agree with Mohd. The Chinese don't care much about their leaders' morality issues as long they deliver (thats the bottom-line).

But since Umno is the head of BN and would not tolerate such acts by its own leaders, a line should be drawn that clearly states BN too would and should not accept such leaders eventhough the MCA/ Chinese couldn't care less to accept such morally-corrupted man.
