Hijabsta Ballet, a Syed Zulkifli Syed Masir @ Syed Zul Tojo movie due to be released for screening in cinemas nationwide on the 3rd of August, 2017 is a movie that everyone should go and watch at their local cinemas!
Hijabsta Ballet's synopsis : Adele, a talented young dancer, lives to full her mother’s dream of becoming a renowned ballerina.
Awarded a scholarship for a world-class Russian ballet school, she is on her way to great success, until a traumatic experience prompts her to make a life-changing decision that was already in the forefront of her mind.
Adele takes the hijab, claiming she will become the best muslim ballerina. Her mother is heartbroken, her friends are confused and both the ballet scene and the Muslim community reject her.
Worse still, as word of her ambition spreads she faces serious threat from Jihadi fundamentalists.
This is one movie that is so fitting to address the needless Islamophobia that is raging across the world due to the ignorance about the significance of the Hijab worn by Believing Muslim Women worldwide and which every Islamophobe and otherwise ought to watch to understand the Hijab better.
I was invited to attend an exclusive preview of this eye opening movie by my FINAS Screenwriting Workshop alumni Roziah Ahmad, on behalf of Hijabsta Ballet's Director / Co-Writer and Producer Tuan Syed Zulkifli also known as Syed Zul Tojo in the Malaysian Film Industry.
The 10.30am screening was held at the MM Cineplex, eCurve, Mutiara Damansara this morning.
I wish to say that Hijabsta Ballet is a refreshing change from the mindless crap that the Malaysian Creative Industry had been churning out lately in the form of nonsensical and at times totally absurd so called movies in the local Malay film category.
Hijabsta Ballet opens up a whole new window enabling those who are clueless as to why the Hijab is commanded by Allah the Almighty to be worn by the Believing Women in Islam and why it is important that people understand the significance and importance of the Hijab for Muslimahs?
Let's watch a teaser of this refreshing movie:
Syed Zul Tojo was interviewed on BERNAMA's Hello Malaysia TV program about his movie. This is Part 1 of the interview.
Another short teaser of Hijabsta Ballet. The Audio is first class! I really enjoyed the awesome sound systems in the MM Cineplex, Curve Mutiara Damansara.
This groundbreaking film has its storyline similar to Stephanie Kurlow, a real life young Australian revert to Islam teenage ballerina who faced challenges in her chosen field to dance and perform ballet whilst adorning her Hijab @ Head Covering commanded by Almighty Allah upon the Believing Muslim women in Surah An Nur Chapter 24 Verse 31 in the Al Quran Al Karim.
" And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed."
Allah, God Almighty
Hijabsta Ballet is Syed Zul Tojo's gift to the cinema going audience here in multi-ethnic, multi-faithed and multi-cultural Malaysia, our beloved nation and homeland which really needs refreshing films such as this to open up the closed mindsets of those who out of ignorance tend to wrongly associate our Islamic sense of dressing and appearance to the misdeeds and wrongful actions of a few deluded individuals who misinterpret God's Commandments and wage a mindless war against others without a valid reason.
Mohd Filus Ghazali, Hijabsta Ballet's Cinematographer and Director of Photography brilliantly captures the wonderful sights and sounds of our rural areas well and the whole movie is a delight to watch.
I will be updating this review with a video interview that I conducted with the film's Director / Producer/ Co-Writer Syed Zul Tojo, Haji Thorpe Ali, his Asst. Director / Co-Producer/ Co-Writer and Mohd Filus Ghazali, Hijabsta Ballet's Cinematographer and Director of Photography once it's processed and ready for viewing.
